Perhaps we got started off on the wrong foot as the first time I showed up, the teacher was a no show with ten of us waiting in the parking lot at 8:30am on a Saturday. Madi quickly tried to correct that by refunding the class, but honestly my whole experience here has been subpar.
I can only take morning classes and the choices are VERY limited. I tried both Madi and Thomas and as a yogi and LA native practicing for ten years, I was just unimpressed. The classes feel unstructured without a clear vinyasa flow. Yesterday, the class I took led by Thomas was so random, with no vinyasa flow or sun salutations for the first 40 mins and then randomly he had us do one chair pose towards the end of class with options to do a vinyasa flow.
The class is ALL levels which is even stranger so itās a total mixed bag. The studio works for someone who has never tried yoga before and wants to just try it out for the first time, but if you already have a practice, thereās fierce competition in my city with more options, more instructors and much better amenities in many other studios⦠They offer strange things like combining boxing and dancing with yoga⦠Sushi and fries anyone? As someone who has taken all three professionally and seriously (yoga, dance and boxing) this is really funny to me. Also donāt appreciate marketing texts at 9:30pm at night. Unfortunately I most likely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have so much positive things to say about this little yoga studio! First and foremost, Madi is very communicative at the beginning of every class on how the class feels about keeping the door slightly ajar or not. Proof of vaccination is required for everyone though wearing a masks is completely up to you. The vinyasa classes are a good mix of beginners to more intermediate poses, she is great with guiding you to listen to your body, not push too hard but also challenge yourself. I love that Madi makes me feel so at ease and even a bit silly, sometimes when weāre doing a balance pose, sheāll talk us through them but then lose balance and say ābut donāt look at meā š life is too short if not be a little silly.
What impresses me the most is that this yoga class also have a variety of sound bath and breathe work classes! Wow WOW!!!!!!! If you havenāt taken these, I highly highly recommend. I had a profound experience taking my first breathe work class with Robert. The sound bath with Vanessa was honestly the most incredible massage for my body, kind and soul. Thank you Homtown yoga for such a wonderful experience thus far, I will definitely be back!! Canāt WAIT for our Friday yin+sound bath class. Honestly, have you heard of such a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEvery time I finish one of Thomasā YoBox classes, I tell myself Iām going to write a review and donāt get to it, but Iām finally doing it! This yoga studio has been so impactful to me and both my mental and physical wellness journeys. I have never been a yogi and was honestly intimidated whenever Iād do yoga but all the instructors Iāve encountered at HomTown have been amazing. Oleg taught me so much about breathing, form, and posture in his Slow Flow class. Thomas has such a kind and positive energy and he makes class fun and uplifting. Iāve noticed how stronger Iāve gotten, being able to hold my planks and side planks longer, and how much better Iāve gotten at my balance poses. Thomasā YoBox class is my ultimate favorite (including other cardio, HIIT, and strength classes at other studios). Yes, the concept of yoga and boxing (and dancing) sounds unconventional but itās such a great class, mixing balance and breathing with strength training. Madi, the owner, cares so much about the studio and building this community. She knows all our names and always takes time to chat with us. Iām so glad I joined this studio a little over a year ago - it has improved my mindset, my wellness, and my...
