Everytime you go there know that this market place was built on a lie. They told residents in the neighborhood that their loading area will be towards Western to avoid traffic and noise and parking will be a closed structure and neither were actually accomplished.
To those like me who live here we are woken up by their loading trucks every morning and unable to sleep at night because someone's car alarm always goes off and their parking structure has no walls facing the residential building.
Please avoid this place. Prices are twice other places and their business made our lives a living hell.
From a customer perspective.. If you are not Asian expect racism
Went in to get some soy sauce. Everything is 1.5 times the usual price. Story short got my item and stood in line , this lady just pushed her cart in front of me like I don't exists there trying to get in front me once I confronted her i just waited in the line and then this guy pushed his hand through where I was standing to put his time on the desk while he should have waited and not push me to do it. I let that one go as well it got time to pay for the items and the cashier looked at me and kept speaking Korean and refused to speak English despite me not looking like a korean person and responding to her in English telling her I dont understand what she is saying.
Overall Terrible service, other fellow shoppers have no values or respect and rather run over you than wait for you to do your shopping too, everything is super expensive for the exact same brands you can buy in Ralphs a few blocks away. Even if you are of an Asian decent you are better off at other near by ethnic markets than this one.
It's called California market but it's far from it. Never...
Read moreI believe that there is a closer Korean market, but I'm here mainly because of Koo's Pancake cart out in front. Korean pancakes there are dollar dollar makes ya holler, so why not spend the rest of my dough and browse for groceries while I'm at it, right?
California Market is your standard multi-aisle Asian grocery store, similar to 99 Ranch Market or Seafood City. When the zombie apocalypse starts, this is where you want to stock up. The stupidest thing about this place is that it faces backward and all you see from Beverly Blvd is wall. Entrance is on Kingsley Dr. I've passed this place up before, because I could not find it.
Inside is a small food court with a grill, a soup place, and yet another place I didn't try. For groceries there is fresh fish, a butcher, and produce sections. I cannot comment on any of the above, because I'm just here to buy SOJU and eat pancakes really. There is a customer restroom in here at a hidden corner but there are signs. It's dirty as hell, but what supermarket ever has clean ones, or even offers it.
So there's your 3-star review. So why 4? I was eating my pancakes one late closing hour in the food court area. All the food court restaurants were closed and the workers were just scrub-ba-dub-dubbing. Pancakes and cell phone were on the table to keep my solo-dining-self company. Ohhh SOJU, I thought...and I got lured into the alcohol aisles...without my dining buddy. This was no cheapo cell phone, either, due to my bling-bling Hello Kitty case (no, not really). The food workers could have kept it and made a pretty penny on the gray market. So I'm running back there frantically and they spot me and return my beloved back. Thank guys! +1...
Read moreI give the Kim-She 5-Stars however the customer service only 1-Star the security officer always follows me around the store. I mean every time I go there, he's on my ass and not even discreet. I look up and there security will be at the end of each isle just staring me down. (for the record I've never stolen anything in my life my father was in the Air Force for 30 years and I grew up on military bases) making it very obvious to me and anyone who is watching the whole scenario that he's watching me. Beautiful store but a very hostile shopping experience to say the least. let me mention that I've been there 8 times roughly once a month and this has happened each time I've gone there. I'm disabled and among other issues one of my big diagnosis is social anxiety. The problem is I am a man of Color and they're just flat out racial profiling, If you guys have that much of a problem, then just close down that beautiful California Market, on Western Blvd, then Re-open it up in North Korea! Because THIS is MY neighborhood and MY COUNTRY and we don't roll like that! I will continuing shopping at Market, hoping in time they will get used to seeing me and realize that I'm their customer and I'm neighbor that's part of this community living in the same apartment over 22 just years 2 1/2 block from them. otherwise I'll just report them to the Better Business Bureau, because here in AMERICA, we...
