I am fairly new to L.A. and have only found 2 Mexican meat markets. Stopped by to grab some asada and tortillas to give it a whirl. I must say, exceptional service! A younger gentleman "read the room" and called me over to help me. Great kid!
I speak Spanish "quietly" because I'm not fluent. Thins kind man effectively communicated with me exceptionally well! Must have amazing parents!
Anyhow, he provided what i requested and unbeknownst to me, the store is cash only or EBT. I should have called and asked first. My bad.
Anyhow, the same man explained to me there is an atm around the way if I need. So I asked they hold my order and came back and boom! Deal was done. Awesome service!!!!
Now the goods:
It is Cinco de Drinko and all of my guests had nothing but excellent comments on the asada AND those home made tortillas (MiraMar, I believe, they were all gone too fast). The man offered me ranchers, which I do enjoy, but he showed me what I grew up on which was thin flappy meat marinated in onions, peppers, oj, seasoning, etc. (I don't know the marinade, but I LOVE the flavor)
Finally, the cashier was friendly, patient and gave her h9nest opinion... which was absolutely TRUE!
GO HERE IF YOU WANT GREAT EVERYTHING!
And as the Terminator once said, "I'll be back"!
Excellent job El Serreno Meat Market! Much...
Read moreEl Sereno gem for sure. I’ve been coming to this neighbourhood meat market since I was a kid. Disliked the smell of this meat market as a kid, but appreciate the smell and cleanness as an adult. Best carne asada and marinated chicken *( will marinate chicken breast or other meat of choice.) 5lb box of shrimp for super cheap, fresh produce that is better than big saver and food 4 less. friendly staff that always make it a point to acknowledge everyone by name if you are a regular, but also acknowledge the first timers. I highly recommend ditching the local super markets and giving this local meat market a try. You will not be...

If you are feeding lots of folks on a budget, get yourself a few pounds of pastrami and a some bollios from El Aguila bakery down the street. Had a party and everybody loved it. Only thing that sucks is they are cash only, but come prepared and you wont be...
