La Cocina de El Sereno — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I used to go to El Mercado del Este de Los Angeles to satisfy my gordita craving but discovered their other location here in El Sereno. I prefer this location because it's not as chaotic, there's plenty of parking, and spacious seating area. Their menu is similar to the one in El Mercado, including aguas frescas, bionicos, licuados, etc. Personally, I love their gorditas with chicharron guisado or carnitas. I've also had their burrito mojado with chicharron guisado. I like my burrito with red and green salsa with crema on top. Their menudo is yummy, too. I like it with granos but no pata de puerco and handmade tortillas. Overall, I prefer the freshness of the food at this location, the ease of finding parking, and the availability of tables to enjoy your hot meal at the location. They serve great food at a decent price, it's not that cheap but also not that expensive. you do have to wait a bit for your food to be made if there is a long line of customers but it's not a long wait time vs other restaurants I have been to that make Mexican food.

parking is available right next to the restaurant from their own private parking lot to free street parking without a meter! I've been to places where you have to pay for parking just about everywhere in the city just to be able to get some lunch. They accept cash, debit and credit cards, visa Master cards, etc. They have some of the BEST Aguas Frescas, I love their mixed fruit one and the pineapple water. This place is one of the food landmarks that everyone should try. Their famous Gordita with carnitas meat is our favorite and highly recommend. They have a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner foods to choose from. Portion sizes are hefty and you will be satisfied at the end of your meal. The choices of Aguas frescas are extensive and each one is a home run in our opinion. They also have a great snack menu ranging from fruit to tosti-ocos and if you don’t know what that is. Try it!
