I only came here because my regular barbershop is closed for the holidays. I asked for a 2 at the top faded to a 1 on the sides. Itās something I shouldnāt need to show a photo for but even still I did. He set it at a 2 and it removed almost no hair then he went down to 1 1/2 and it did not remove anything at all so clearly his clippers are not calibrated. Itās way too dark at the top to be a 1 1/2. But I didnāt want to risk him messing up the faded blend from that point. I have wavy hair so you definitely need to run a comb through it to agitate the hair up because my hair lays down. Instead, he just brushed it in the same direction with a soft brush which lifted nothing. The edge up is decent but in the front itās not fully straight and he didnāt put any water or lubricant on my face before using a dry razor blade to line up. Ultimately Iām not impressed. Iām black & white mix and it seems he doesnāt have much experience with this hair type as he didnāt even comb it before cutting it. Mostly Iām annoyed he didnāt cut to the numbers I asked. He showed me the clippers said 1 1/2 so his clippers need to be replaced because this is the darkest 1 1/2 Iāve ever seen. Most likely Iāll just have to get another haircut in two days when my shop opens back up. Black or mixed raced people, I donāt recommend at all that you go here. It wasnāt the worst haircut ever, the side fade is okay, itās acceptable. but I shouldnāt have to go home the same day to trim my hair down shorter the same day I got it cut. I basically have the same length on the top as when I walked in. 50% on him 50% on the clipper numbers...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreArrived at opening time as a walk-in, was told that I would have to wait because the employees present were taking appointments only. I was told the new walk-in only employee would arrive 30 minutes later. I had to wait an additional hour for the "new guy" to arrive, while some of the other employees had down time and could have given me a cut instead. The new guy, nicknamed "butterfingers" finally shows up and already his equipment is failing and dropping it as he sets up. The guy lacked experience and knicked me and left my haircut patchy. First and last time coming here.
Update: dear owner, thank you for replying. I will acknowledge that I was informed about your appointment system as well as the other employees not taking walk ins to accommodate their already scheduled clients. I will disagree however, on that particular walk-in only employee arriving on time, as he arrived almost an hour and a half after opening shop (I was told he arrives at 9:30 and given updates that he was on his way and was running late - arriving until 10:20) I also respectfully disagree with you on harassing said employe when I an indicating facts on this incident, unless you can prove otherwise. I am sure that your other employees are great; I remember seeing your own work on a client while I was waiting and was expecting the same quality. Unfortunately that was not the case during my visit. Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in with my sons for a haircut. We are locals and fellow business owners on Pico blvd for over 35 years. Always had dealt with the dad. The son informed us about the online appt. System they use, ( i remember when he talked to me about trying to do that years ago). We were also told if we waited we could be squeezed in. We waited and to my surprise we when asked if we could Zelle. The son said that he would charge $10 extra for paying that way. We have been in this neighborhood for a long time and we service the people in this community. We would never take advantage of our customers this way. Even the fruit stand ladies accept zelle and they don't charge $10 for that. Sadly we won't be coming back. I remember when barbers took you as you came in. ( we waited even though there were 2 barbers free and only the son was cutting hair. Sometimes "new " isnt always better.
UPDATE: I understand that your business does not have all the advantages of a corporate business, due to this fact it is very surprising to see that you are enforcing a $10 fee to use Zelle. Since you grew within this community and around these people you should value your neighbors and support and respect all the years of work it took your father to build such a successful barber shop...running off old clients is not the way. And making them pay so much for a FREE...
