I've patronizing Jacks since they opened during the late 1960's. Today was my worst experience. Poor customer service, girl twitching, swinging her hands, talking loud and rude with an attitude, lied about how long my phone order would be ready for pickup. Yes, I arrived about 5 minutes early. I ordered at 11:05 told to pickup in 25 minutes. Get there like I said about 5 minutes early. I was told it would be about another 10-15 minutes. So , I walked out, waited in my car for 20 minutes. Go in and no one greeted me. So, I asked if my order was ready. It's now 11:45 am. This young girl starts waving here hands and said, "she walked out" I responded, "you said it was going to be 10-15 more minutes, so yes, I walked out." This girl behaved so poorly and others not greeting me poor service. I know momma Jacks and Pops, LAPD Jack Jr. Is turning over in their graves with the behaviors demonstrated today. And no Helen😳. I will never go back to this establishment. And!! It wasn't busy at this time. Maybe 10 people in there. You could sit wherever. I know Jacks you have to wait for a seat....
Read moreFound this gem in the rough during last Sunday's brunch craving Yelp search. I'm sure it could equally be discovered on a short list of endangered timeless American diners.
It's a breath of freshish air in a city where you wait in line 45 minutes to spend $60 on rather mediocre pastrys (Republique...). When I brunch, I don't care if Chucky Chaplin use to live upstairs and $9 artisinal bread is a highlight. I'm happy with a decent coffee and a hot plate of wholesome food that doesn't break the bank.
Jack's is a real place. REAL. The outside has no charm, and it doesn't need it. I'm sure it deters people from going in which is good! There was no line up to get in at 12pm on a Sunday. The inside is a classic original diner. You can tell not alot has changed in ...40 years? The jukebox has a great selection of pop and soul. Service is friendly. The food is nothing out of this world but its good. Yeah, you probably won't like this place...
Next time I want to hit the root beer button on the 90s vending machine behind the bar. That was so satiafying...
Read moreGreat food for Decades!!!! My parents first brought me here when I was small enough to think this place was big... LOL! If you been to Jack's then you know what I mean.. This place is one of the few kitchens where the food was delicious enough for my Dad to take us and really want to go himself all through my childhood up until he died in 2005. It has been open for at least 40 yrs. that I know of, in the same cozy spot surrounded by the parking lot. After which I still love the food soooo much!!! That my husband and I can sometimes go up to 4 times in a single week. It's a tiny little place and does get quite crowed close to closing which by the way is at like 2pm when open, so I like to call in for pickup. I'm thinking about suggesting it for today. (SMH/WJ) Shaking My Head With Joy!! That fried pork chop covered in gravy, signature rice drizzled with the same superb Jack's gravy, scrambled eggs and please don't forget the scrumptious fresh baked biscuits... OMG!!! SO GOOD GOOD GOOD..!¡!!! That's my fav. go taste and see what you...
