Jack’s Family Cafe was once a beloved hub in the community, especially on Sunday mornings when it was packed with churchgoers and familiar faces. Since the change in ownership, however the energy has faded. The atmosphere feels off and it’s hard not to notice the drop in customers. Many feel that the cultural connection that oncce made Jack’s special is no longer there!!!!!
The "new ownership" has raised concerns, esspecially after the restaurant closed for an "entire week" because the owners went on vacation leaving staff without pay and the community without notice. In a working class neighborhood that kind of decision has real consequences. Regulars are still talking about it and trust has been shhaken.
Though the prices remain reasonable and the location convenient the heart of Jack’s is missing. A few Black waitresses remain out front but the kitchen staff no longer reflects the community the restaurant once proudly represented. What bothered me the most was me and my lady friend noticed a wallet being turned in by a customer to a young female server. That same server opened the wallet up and took the cash out to split with her young male co worker. I was shocked at the the boldness because we weren’t the only ones still sitting down eating but the young lady was talking to a male customer, as she rummaged through the wallet, who I figured he may just be a regular customer.
