Had a very poor custom experience with this business, pertaining to customer service and the way that this establishment runs their business. I had purchased 2 Groupons, each for a 90-min massage at Room 17. When I attempted to schedule an appointment for a massage, lo and behold, I discovered that they do not offer massage services anymore, because there was no longer a massage therapist on staff. I spoke with Arash over the phone, and he persuaded me to get a refund for the voucher that was expiring first from Groupon and hold onto the voucher with the longer shelf life [exp. on 05/23] with the hope that by that time they would have a massage therapist in place. I asked Arash if I would be able to trade the [first] Groupon in for the service that they were providing at the time--i.e., hair and scalp treatments--but was told that that was impossible. The reason that I was given at the time was that the materials used in the hair and scalp treatments are too cost prohibitive to allow for this exchange of services. This rationale that I was provided suggesting that I was precluded from swapping services based on the extra expense of hair/scalp products used in hair and scalp treatments [but not in massages] sounded (and felt) bogus. Fast forward to a week ago, when I called the business again and spoke with Arash [again]. His approach on the phone sounded and felt condescending, and when I inquired as to the status of the elusive massage therapist, I was told that there still wasn't anyone in place in that role, and that it was necessary for me to [again] seek out a refund from Groupon. I tried again to persuade Arash to allow me to exchange the voucher for a hair and scalp treatment of comparable value. Again, I was told that this would be impossible; however, this time the reason given was that Groupon already was aware that Room 17 was not offering massages, so Groupon would not redeem a voucher that states the service as "massage" for another [unstated] service. Not only was this a different justification/excuse than I was given before, it sounded to me like an ill-formed fabrication. My final experience with Room 17 "customer service," was actually visiting the physical space, in hopes of speaking with a manager. The self-described manager that I spoke with was both argumentative and dismissive in our interaction. Very disappointing! I strongly believe that a business, under these circumstances, would/should display a willingness to listen to, negotiate with, attempt to appease the [disappointed, frustrated] customer, rather than display rigid, inflexibility and verbally spar with him. The treatment that I received associated with this business--without even trying the service(s) provided there--leaves me with a bad taste and no desire to visit this business in the future! *Reply to owner's response [posted 2 hrs. ago, as of this writing]: Your statement that you value transparency is a joke. Your response comes several months after my original review, but the comments you make are ill-informed; and are, in fact, a lie. I did have a Groupon for MASSAGE services at your business, and I was informed both on the phone--when I called to schedule a massage; and in person, where I interacted with one of your very unpleasant employees to discuss the matter further and reach a satisfactory resolution. I was informed that you no longer had a massage therapist available at your business, so you would be unable to honor my Groupon. When I requested to substitute head spa services for the [unavailable] massage services, I was informed that that couldn't be done. If you would like to rehash this issue now, I am more than game. *Reply to owner's response Part ll: Out of curiosity, I accessed my account on Groupon, in order to ascertain my purchase date for the 90-min. massage Groupon for Room 17 in Encino, and discovered that it was 01/24/24. If the owner of this business--since he/she is so interested in transparency--would like me to post this invoice to debunk his erroneous claims, just let me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDon't recommend this place. It's a rip-off take on the legit Asian scalp massage spots. They over charge you and use cheap products that you can find at Ross or Marshall's. I'd rather go to the real thing.
Edit: they replied to my review without even understanding the issue. I have no issue with your staff, so why would there be any bias. Those are your words not my. What I am saying is that, in all honesty, we can see right through your business and know the only people leaving 'positive' reviews are your friends and family and people that have never been to a REAL AUTHENTIC head spa. You're overcharging and trying to hop on a trend and offer mediocre services with CHEAP products. You can't fool the ones that know about a true head spa experience. It ain't my first rodeo. That's why you get the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a spectacular Motherās Day we had! Room 17 far exceeded the expectations of myself, my mother, and my two daughters. The facility is sparkling clean. The staff was so gracious, kind, and welcoming. I wish I lived locally so I could spend time at Room 17 regularly! EDITED: I contacted the spa by email several times and my daughter called there because I requested to know what types of oils they used. My doctor is testing me for allergies. The spa has never replied and the gentleman who spoke with my daughter was completely unhelpful and unconcerned with my request. Iām sorry to say this has greatly impacted my review...
