Land in LA is so expensive and is one reason why building new parks is so difficult. Parklets like these are ways to create green spaces in already occupied, dense parts of the city. But like all public goods, it takes public budget commitments. #quimbyact #publicparks #losangeles_city #california #publicspaces #infrastructure #streets #sidewalks #greenspaces #development

Spring street doggie park is a great place for a quick potty break and a great place to meet other puppy parents and also to network. There are a couple of downfalls though. • The designated potty area is super small and sometimes crowded. If you happen to have a medium to large dog you'll understand. • The grass area is a bit small. • The security guard is a bit annoying. He'll say "the cameras are watching." anytime someone let's their pup off leash. I understand dogs are to remain on leash and he's got a job to do, but making up a story of people being watched via camera by the park rangers is not cool. 🐾🤘

What you’d expect out of a small park in the middle of the city. Dirty and maintained enough. What was once a grassy mound, is now strictly dirt and people let their dogs off leash. The fenced dog park which is behind the dirt mound, is also poorly maintained and dirty. Not horrible though. I’ve been to dog parks where my dog has refused to explore and stayed at the exit. This one he actually checked things out.

Meh.

Any park that is mainly concrete or pavement is not a park; it's a re-purposed parking lot.

Though the developers who helped create this park claim it is mainly for children, it is not child friendly. There's a small corner of the park with "toddler playground" equipment, but it is not grassed in, the creator or designer chose to use a cushy foam instead. The play equipment is actually pretty good, too bad the designers decided to make the rest of the park look like an outdoor conference room.

Though the intent was to have an area adults and children could play in and around, dogs outnumber children 20:1. The grassy knoll adjacent to the playground is fenced off indefinitely. It looks nice, but it fails in its original intent, fails in its most useful purpose (a dog park) and fails as any sort of park. There aren't even any decent shade trees and it is certainly not restful.

If taxpayer dollars helped create this area the...

This so called Spring St Park, is actually a much needed/convenient solution for Dog Owners/Residents, who live in the immediate Downtown 6th St & Spring St Area, seem to Definitely appreciate its existence, as anyone living in this Downtown area, are all Residing with thier Dogs, in local Apts, Lofts, Condos & Townhomes located within Tall Buildings & Skyscrapers LA area, So when thier Beloved "Fido/Princess" Needs to "Go Potty" this "Spring St ~"Dog Park" is actually quite small, Located on Spring St in Downtown LA, just North of 6th St., its use & existence seems to be known only by used exclusively by Spring St Residents who take a stroll arriving...

The park`s management is ran by Los Angeles Department Of Parks and Recreation while the city uses subcontractors to fill the positions. It seems that no one is personally invested in the care of the park. It is a very small but vital park. The pet care in and around the park needs to be augmented to include pest abatement, specifically flea and tick control. My dogs continually catch fleas at the Spring Street Park. I can bet on that everytime i take them to that park they come home with fleas, sometimes ticks too! We would like to see the city address the current problem of this issue as it is not an issue with other city parks that I know of in my...
