I've lived in Playa Pacifica since '84. It's borderline Playa del Rey and Westchester. The building's changed owners a few times since I've lived here but for the last 2 decades it's been a Decron Property. The last update to the interior is unfortunate. They downgraded the look of the building with terrible colors and horrible flooring and nothing matches. All it needed was new carpeting and a paint job.
On the plus side, this is a rent-control building, and the complex offers tennis courts, a gym, a pool, a jacuzzi, and a sauna. We also have a barbecue area, a locked mail room, and a Parcel Pending room with some lockers for packages. We had a business center with a conference room but that's been taken away. They updated the community room and moved it upstairs. There are two elevators, one at each end of the building, but the building is not wheelchair accessible. They had a chance to do that back in the early 2000s when they did a lot of work on the building but neglected to do that. I feel like that was a definite mistake. There is gated parking. Every Thursday we also get a food truck which I enjoy.
The best part though is that it's pet friendly. When they first allowed dogs they had two nice dog parks. They weren't cared for properly though so they had to redo them. Unfortunately, they're not in the best condition now. I rarely use them and take my dog on walks.
Management has changed frequently over the years and no matter who they get in there, they're very friendly and easy to deal with. The same with the office staff. The maintenance department is managed by a terrific guy named Dan who is very proactive and the maintenance staff is wonderful.
This building is occupied by an interesting mix of people of all different ages and it's nice to live fairly close...
