I’ve never been one to leave public reviews, but after a recent poor customer service experience, at another establishment for a completely differing matter, coupled with the SUPERB experience I had at From The Vault Jewelers, I thought it worth my time to share with my fellow Louisvillians. Hopefully, it will positively influence others to frequent and patronize this locally owned jeweler. I’m always supportive of local Kentucky businesses.
I had a special belt buckle which I wanted to get engraved with my initials inside an outline of the shape of The Commonwealth of Kentucky. Additionally, I wanted it to match the font and size of a slim hip wallet (shown in photo) which my brother gave me as a gift. I took the buckle to a few different establishments but never felt quite confident they could accomplish what I wanted. After conducting additional research I came upon From The Vault and met with Sheila Newton, proprietress. Sheila is British born and has a lovely accent, with a firm, yet charming, stiff British upper lip. She thoroughly explained my options, provided frank warning — I always appreciate straight forward direct information — about possible negative consequences of engraving, and believed lazer (British spelling, of course) would be the best option. She had the jeweler, Mr Graham Newton, who’s exceptional and highly accomplished in his field, contact me furthermore about the buckle. Graham holds several jeweler and precious stone certificates: GIA, GD, AiSCVIM. AVS-GJV, AiC. Best of all though is his dedication, communication, intelligence, and above all his craftsmanship. He emailed me after matching the EXACT font style and size from the monogrammed wallet. Additionally he found a more than suitable outline of Kentucky, which included small details, yet still looked clean on the buckle. The map Graham selected even included the notch where the old historic Dueling Grounds horse racing track makes a small notch in the boundary due to a map surveying error.
The buckle turned out just sublime. Plus, Sheila even gave me a nice little back to store it in. I get nice compliments on the buckle, and now on the engraving, on a regular basis. I’m most pleased with the results.
I only wish all other businesses — heck, I’d settle for half — were run as well From The Vault Jewelers. Highly competent, courteous, thorough communication, timely, and just plain old impressive work product. Couldn’t ask for more. If I’m ever foolish enough to get married, From The Vault Jewelers is where I’ll have my mother’s engagement wedding ring refitted and resized.
Thank you kindly...
Read moreGraham and Sheila at From the Vault went above and beyond for me. My wife has a strand of pearls I bought her when our son was born. She wears them regularly. Right before we were going out of town the strand broke. I took them to From the Vault to be restrung. Sheila had promissed them a few days before we left. I came in to pick them up and there had been a mix up with the person that does the work. Needless to say I was disappointed. We were headed to see our grandchildren in France and I didn't want to tell my wife she wouldn't have her pearls. I left and about half way home I got a call from Graham. He apologized and offered to lend us a strand of pearls for the trip. I went back the next morning and picked up the pearls. They were a beautiful strand that were obviously more valuable than the one's I was having repaired. You should know that I am not a regular customer that spends alot of money with them. I was just a guy that came in off the street to get a sentimental piece of jewlery repaired. I got home and we got ready to head to the airport when Graham called to tell me her pearls had just arrived. He offered to let us keep their pearls until we got back. We decided to run by there and get her pearls before we left. Graham refused to let me pay for the repair. It is rare these days to find a business this dedicated to customer service and doing the right thing. Thanks to...
Read moreThe staff was so kind and I had excellent service here.
I was given a beautiful mother of pearl eternity style ring - the outside was entirely set in what looked like epoxy and the mother of pearl chips could have easily fallen out if the ring was messed with too much, but it was just too small to wear properly! I took this ring to two other jewelers begging them to attempt to resize it - all it needed was a shave down on the inside, but no one would even try because they didn't want to be held accountable if it broke.
I should have just come to From The Vault first! They agreed to try and resize my ring "at my risk" (yes, that was written on the work order and I was absolutely fine with that! I was desperate to get this ring resized). And they were so careful with my ring - they shaved down the inside just enough for it to fit on me and it held up in one piece! I can wear it now and I'm so excited for that.
The best part was, the fee was surprisingly low! I was expecting a much higher price point than what I got ($30).
I'm taking my business to From The Vault from now on! Beautiful selection, beautiful store,...
