My wife and I were excited about checking out some of the bourbon distilleries so we decided to stay downtown. The Grady was almost double the rate at most hotels but we decided to book with them because it looked like a step up from the rest. Boy was I wrong. The level of service we got from the moment we walked it the door made it very clear. There was no valet at the front door so we decided to carry all of our bags in while drooping some of them trying to get in the front door. The front desk guy was nice but never offered to help or get someone but what ever, lets make the best out of it. trying to sleep was not easy at all. The doors had nothing to prevent sound from being so harsh in the middle of the night and the outside sound was also very loud at times. My bed was collapsed in the middle side and leaned like a boat making U-turn. the shower had a leak at the bottom of the door so the floor was soaked after every show. Now they have my attention. The night staff is way different. You are not greeted when coming in and I felt like more of an inconvenience then anything. I walked in the door on a rainy night asking where the valet is and the front deck girl was on her phone (playing a game) sitting in front of the fireplace and didn't even answer me. This termed out to be the norm with this particular young lady. I started noticing things at this point. something as simple as a spill trail of coffee from the front door all the way down the hallway that stayed there the rest of the time. The downstairs restroom was never cleaned having the same food stuck to the sink for days. The hotel it's self is beautiful and the designer did an amazing job. attached photo is the front desk and valet on night shift.
I would like to point out a couple positives. The bartender is very talented and and would do amazing anywhere. The restaurant staff was also great and one valet older gentleman was very nice. I travel quite a bit and stay a very nice places. This hotel has potential but it starts at the top. The Manager should be aware of the issues and they should never get to this point. If only they all had the passion of...
Read moreWe were so excited to stay at this top rated hotel right in downtown with a city view. It was our anniversary night and we have driven from Ohio to enjoy this experience. When we first got there. The hotel greeter named BRIAN was very sketchy and gave us a weird vibe like he seemed like he had better things to do than help us. After seeing our room and getting out things arranged we headed back down to explore some of the things to do eat and see on the streets, since it was New Year’s Eve. When we came back from getting pizza and treats to enjoy back in our room while waiting for the ball to drop we were unexpectedly shocked when the fire alarm went off and was piercing our ears we hurried out of bed becuase we thought maybe a fire but no one else in our hall was out side. We call the front desk no answer and when my fiancé walk downstairs to talked to someone about what was going on there was no one to be found. Minutes go by and no one calls the phone and finally my fiancé comes back up with that same BRIAN who walks in our room uninvited and doesn’t say a word but you guys need to leave for partying walk back out and clocks out and leaves with our informing any other team members the alarm stops shortly after and we call up the front desk and they told us we needed to come down to check out so we pack up all our things and head down stairs. When we walk downstairs it’s a different guy other than BRIAN and a manger that works the bar. They said they were not aware of the situation and that they could not get ahold of BRIAN and we didn’t need to leave after being extremely frustrated and uncomfortable there we checked out. We have stayed at many high end hotels and this was the worst experience by far with customer service. It’s so disappointing that we had that horrible experience with the Grady Hotel we will not be coming back to do the lack of respect and kindliness to the customers. BRIAN placed judgement on us due to our age and our attire. The whole stay made us feel unwanted and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at The Grady Hotel in downtown Louisville, and it was an unforgettable experience. The hotel is housed in a historic building commissioned in 1883 by pharmacist J.B. Wilder as a medicinal bourbon apothecary. This rich history is beautifully preserved and celebrated throughout the hotel.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was blown away by the stunning artwork and tasteful decor. The attention to detail is impeccable, seamlessly blending the building's historic charm with modern luxury. The lobby and common areas are adorned with pieces that pay homage to the building's past, including its time as the home of the Swann-Abram Hat Company, the first makers of Kentucky Derby hats.
My room was equally impressive, offering a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. Every aspect of the room, from the furnishings to the lighting, was thoughtfully designed to enhance the guest experience.
Dining at the hotel's restaurant, Wild Swann, was a highlight of my stay. The name itself is a tribute to the building's history with the Swann-Abram Hat Company. The menu features a delightful array of dishes, each prepared with the finest ingredients and presented with flair. The service was exceptional, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
Another fantastic aspect of The Grady Hotel is its prime location. It is within walking distance of many Whiskey Row distilleries, making it an ideal choice for whiskey enthusiasts looking to explore Louisville's rich bourbon heritage.
Overall, my stay at The Grady Hotel was nothing short of spectacular. The combination of historic charm, luxurious accommodations, outstanding service, and a prime location makes it a must-visit destination in Louisville. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and...
