A libary is supposed to be a safe place, but this one is not... this is not a kid friendly library. Go to a different branch if you have kids. I was asked to leave by security person when my autistic 2yr old started to cry ( not very loud) I explained to them she was autistic and had a hard time communicating, the security person kept getting closer to her setting her off more, Even when I asked for them to give her space so I could calm her down, they didn't listen and kept telling her to stop crying and even tried to touch her. I asked them to stop and to let me handle it. I was only in there for about 5 mins trying to pay off fines and left before even finishing what I needed to get done. When a parent asked you to stop, please stop . My child was not feeling safe, and you were disrespectful for not acknowledging mine and her boundaries. honestly felt like the situation could've been handled a lot better.. it felt like discrimination, especially since other kids were running around and screaming, and not a single person asked them to calm down. A library is supposed to be a safe place for everyone in the community, I could understand being asked the leave if she had a full autistic meltdown, but it wasn't like that at all. Everyone should feel safe at the library, and everyone deserves boundaries being respected. Try to do better...
Read moreReally nice library aesthetically, however…libraries are meant to be quiet. I can say that the last 3-4 times I’ve been here, I have been met with people that walk around the library talking loudly on their cell-phones, loud children who run around the library, and just chatter in general that isn’t kept to a minimal level to respect those around who are actually trying to study/read. The “study rooms” are useless because the tops of them are open meaning they don’t block out noise any noice. There is a security guard that walks around that I’m not even sure what purpose they serve as they do not ask any of the people who are being loud to quiet down. Staff nor librarians intervene with disruptive patrons. The open floor plan of the library makes it near impossible to seclude your self in an area with minimal noise. The sounds from one side of the library just echos to the other. If you really need to concentrate on something, do not come to...
Read moreOn July 19th my business partner and I were scheduled for the learning lab room to conduct a video conference. The staff in the library were very distasteful and unprofessional. They made my business partner and I feel "watched" and unwelcome as they were huddled together staring at us from across the room, and when they did approach they were unsure about the details regarding our scheduled meeting room. The staff was not informed of the library guidelines pertaining to the use of library equipment.
With city cut backs and library closures you would think that more library associates would be more community friendly, thankful for their jobs, and more informed of what needs to take place. I am currently pro-library in support of what the library means to the communit, however, I will not tolerate his type of treatment, therefore I will not return to this branch....
