I treated one of my best friends nieces to Red Lobster, because she wanted a seafood boil. That was a waste of $150 on the worst food ever (Except for the $. tip I gave the waiter, because, Tyler was the best part of the whole service). The crab legs were over cooked & the meat inside was shrunk, The lobster tail was cut in half & so over cooked that it was shriveled up, hard & stuck to the shell. The "dozen" shrimp was also over cooked & there were only (5) in the bag. The crab seafood boil was $43.99 each. Not worth it. We each got a smoothie which was 6.99 each, & chips & crab queso for appetizer ($14.99 I think). I would not recommend spending this much money on a seafood boil. Go & buy the seafood & make it yourself. I'm from Louisiana & this was a total disappointment, except for the professionalism, enthusiasm, & courtesy of Tyler !!! Thank you Tyler ššš Follow up: Red Lobster "made it right", or so I thought. When we went back to enjoy a (2nd) meal, the Manager, refused to give me the difference of ($) back from my meal. The waiter took my "documentation that was sent to me" to the manager & upon his return, stated "Ok" she said "You can go!" I said excuse me, "I would like the difference of my money back, to use at a later date, Please." He went back to the Manager again, & came back with the same answer. Now, had it just been like some coins, or a couple of dollars, I would have said "Ok thank you & left," because I had already once again, tipped this new Waiter, very well. No, it was more than that & the Manager just refused to give me the overage back, which could have paid for another meal. The Manager at this location, NEVER came out from their hiding spot, in the back, to at least acknowledge or speak to us about what was going on. I waited for a few minutes for them to appear, but they didn't so we eventually left. The Waiter was so sweet, but confused on what he was supposed to do. I told him to make sure that he added all of the extra overage to his tip as well, because it wasn't fair that I lost my "make it right" & the Manager get to keep all the extra for their pocket. Maybe Manager 101 classes along with Customer Service 102 classes, really are needed for this location. As far as the food, it was the same (mid) Seafood boil, as stated before. Plus, we also tried one of the steak meals with this order, but, it was tough, dry & had lack of flavor, as well as the sides. Well, I went in very appreciative that Red Lobster accepted responsibility for their previous mid service & "wanted to make it right," but then we left unhappy at their (2nd) mid service, plus, their lack for customer concerns or care. Do better Red Lobster, do better. It doesn't seem to be their unlimited shrimp deal, that is causing bankruptcy, it seems to be the unconcerned, non-chalant, uncaring, Management teams, that they have working for their establishments. I hope the waiter received the extra $...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife, two daughters, son in law, my mother and myself arrived at Red Lobster at 6:45 PM looking to celebrate my Mothers 80th birthday party we were promptly seated at 7 PM and from there things went horribly wrong. Our waitress seemed to be handling about 8 tables in our section and although we got our menus right away she disappeared and we didn't get drinks ordered for 10 minutes, then 10 minutes further before we saw her again to drop some biscuits on our table we said that we were ready to order but she advised that she had other customers to wait on and disappeared for another 10 minutes. So 30 minutes in we finally get to place our orders 3 of us ordered the endless shrimp, 1 ordered the fish and chips, 1 the pick 2 and my mother the shrimp linguine with asparagus. From there the long wait begins 15 minutes later we ask is our food almost out?.. to this we are quickly given more biscuits and told the kitchen is running behind, then she disappears for another 15 minutes. We have been seated for an HOUR and still don't have our food!! This is on a Thursday???... can't see how this place operates on the weekends. 10 minutes later our waitress finally shows up with our food minus several sides and mixed up orders, I tell her we would like to go ahead and put in our orders for the next 2 dishes for the endless shrimp to insure that we could get them in a timely manner since we have been here way to long and she says shes going to check on the missing sides. Well another 20 minutes later she finally shows up with no not our next orders for the endless shrimp which we have already finished our first plate of but with my mothers missing asparagus which is BURNT on one end my mother said she wasn't eating it I tried a piece and it tasted like it was pure SALT, HORRIBLE AND BURNT! I asked where our next plates were for the endless shrimp and she said she would check with the kitchen. You guessed it 15 minutes later she shows up with the dishes, I asked to speak with the manager at this point. The manager shows up to our table and I explain my frustration and that this should be a typical 1 hour meal from start to finish and we have been there over 2 HOURS, she says that the kitchen is backed up with orders from customers for the endless shrimp offer. Once again this is on a Thursday, WHY offer a special if its going to shut your restaurant down to the point that the SERVICE SUCKS. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED! The manager offered no apology or compensation for the poor service. We usually go the the Red Lobster in Clarksville, IN where we have gotten good service, we opted to go to this one because it was closer to my mothers home. Won't make that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came here since I like seafood and it is close to where we live. I have eaten here before, and while it never really struck me as great seafood, it was never unpleasant, especially for a chain restaurant in the Midwest. The decor is dark and dated and could use a remodel, especially given the newer restaurants opening nearby. I had forgotten how overpriced the food was.
I ordered the Fish and Fries dinner and my wife ordered the Parmesan Crusted Talapia. The menu stated that the Fish and Fries came with a generous portion of fish. This generous portion, included one piece of fish. The fish looked unbreaded, unseasoned, and overcooked. It was tough to chew and dry. I couldn't even eat it. The waitress was apologetic and asked if I wanted to order something else. I declined and asked if they could just fry me another piece of fish. While I was waiting the manager came out and apologized and said a new piece would be out soon.
While waiting for my fish to be replaced, I tried some of my wife's talapia. It was only okay. The dish was tasty and I could see that it had the potential to be really good, but the fish and "crust" were a soggy mess. I could only manage a few bites and put it to the side.
My second piece of fish finally arrived but was indistinguishable from the first in both looks and taste. I finally just told the waitress it was the worst piece of fish I had ever eaten. She apologized again and had it taken off the bill. The manager came out again and apologized and asked if I wanted anything else. I declined. He finally admitted that the fish was cooked frozen and that they couldn't thaw it out fast enough, which explained quite a bit, but not everything.
My wife's meal was approximately $17.50 and mine, before it was removed from the check, was approximately $12.50. That is awful expensive for low cost fish, which was clearly frozen for God knows how long and not thawed properly before being cooked.
The manager and waitress were both apologetic, and I appreciate that they offered to fix me something else. However, if you can't get something like "fish" right at a seafood restaurant, how likely are you to get the other seafood dishes right?
With drinks, my wife's dinner, and three kids meals, the check still totaled over $60 with tip, which I did not withhold from the server who provided very good service, despite the problems, which from her demeanor appears to be something that the servers deal with regularly.
Of course the cheese biscuits were as good as always. The shrimp nachos, which I tried, were also surprisingly good. However, neither of these are sufficient to make me want to go back to this...
