3:30pm on a Friday, was told there was a 15-30 minute wait for a table for two. There were several people (atleast one large party) ahead of us waiting. We actually waited 22 min. The girl who was working incoming seemed a bit overwhelmed and scattered. We were seated by the bar. A middle aged African American woman took us to our seats, forgive me her name escapes me and said our waitress would be right over. After a few minutes she came back and asked if the waitress had been by. "No one has come by" She then ask for our drinks and brought us 2pc of seafood bread. She was super friendly. The atmosphere was lively and colorful, music played in the back ground. It wasn't quiet in there but certainly wasn't too loud either. The decor was fitting. Our actual waitress was not rude or anything, but she was NOT attentive at all. My husband had to go ask someone up front for a refill twice AND I had to stop another waitress to go get the appetizer bread I ordered AFTER I had gotten my food. NOT COOL. I ordered the shrimp with okra. My shrimp was overcooked. It was nice and crunchy on the outside and almost rubbery on the inside because well.. overcooked. My okra was a mixture. some were PERFECT others hard. Being a southern woman and cooking fried okra often I realize this could be the quality of the okra they bought (too green) or it could have been over cooked but really the okra tasted good. My husband was a little upset that it was 4:04 by the time he was able to order so no more lunch special. He ordered the #1 steam bowl in cajun very hot. It looked amazing however it had no cajun seasoning on it at all. He told the waitress and she informed him "well I put it in cajun" and then offered to bring him some cajun butter? He told her it isn't hot at all either and she didn't say anything. He said his shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes tasted good..It was lathered in garlic and butter, however, not cajun or spicy as he had ordered. Now the seafood bread.. THAT WAS AMAZING. Like I said, the first woman brought us 2 pc and then I ordered an appetizer which was 4pc. It was greasy but SO SO GOOD. We love seafood and were super excited to have a place so convenient. I don't know that we will go back or not though. OVERALL: Environment-A+ Food-B Service-B Price-(TYPICAL for a seafood restaurant, but PRICY for lack...
Read moreThis place just opened and my mom invited me to try it out (obviously I can't say no to seafood). First off the name is incredible, love the name, second they redecorated the interior from what ocharleys had it to a beautiful oceanic theme (love it).
I'll get the bad out of the way first, the place wasn't super busy and the service was still a bit slow but I'm not knocking a star down for that because the staffs attitude and the food definitely made up for it!
We ordered the number 5 dinner combo which comes with A pound of king grab, shrimp (headless), craw fish (head, shell and all) green mussels, potatoes, sausages and also corn on a cob. For 59 bucks it was a massive feast and well worth the price. Something to note that I forgot we added shrimp to the combo which brought the price up another 15-18 bucks or so but it's a whole pound of delicious shrimp.
The seafood here was to die for, everything tastes fresh and the seasoning was out of the world. Nothing tasted very fishy and it was all mouth watering. Both my mom and I are seafood lovers and we love finding places and trying out new seafood and not everyplace holds up but I promise you this place does.
If you have a cool $60 to $100 (keep in mind they do have cheaper food and combo options) burning a hole in your wallet and love seafood do yourself a favor and come to this place. Oh and before I forget for the love of god order their seafood bread. I'm not a religious man but when I bit into that bread I could've sworn I died and went to heaven (it's insanely good).
We are already planning to return soon to try our their lobster! We can't wait! Bravo on the grand opening and bravo on...
Read moreWhenever I'm in Louisville on business, Storming Crab is always a must-visit for me, and they never disappoint. This time, I brought my wife, who’s a true crab leg aficionado, and she couldn’t stop praising it! She said it’s some of the best crab legs she’s ever had—definitely high praise coming from her. The crab legs were perfectly cooked—not overdone—and the seasoning mix was just right, giving the seafood that delicious flavor without overpowering it.
Another highlight is their baked oysters, which I believe are the best you’ll find north of New Orleans. They’re flavorful, fresh, and baked to perfection, making them a standout appetizer.
While Storming Crab fits the mold of the typical seafood boil restaurant that’s become popular over the past 7-10 years (complete with the same décor and ambiance as others in the genre), what sets this place apart is the quality of the food. It’s consistently better than most places I’ve been to, and they truly take care to get the seafood right.
A pleasant surprise was the complimentary crab butter bread—even my wife, who normally doesn’t eat bread, loved it. It's just the right balance of buttery goodness without being too heavy.
I usually go for the soft shell crab, which is good—not the best I’ve ever had—but for a dish that’s hard to find consistently, they do a good enough job for me to order it every time I’m here. It’s a solid dish for soft shell crab lovers.
In short, Storming Crab is a step above your average seafood boil spot, and it’s worth a visit if you’re in Louisville. Whether you're a crab lover or just want some standout seafood, they...
