I never want to write this type of review and mind you, I can't say for certain if the story I'm about to tell you is Regal policy or just a bad manager.
My son is part of an after school program. I won't way which, but the group and their families planned a get together to see the new TMNT movie. LCS (Lynchburg City Schools) was paying for the outing and even bought everyone popcorn and soda. We were super excited to have this last hoorah before Summer ended and my boys had to go back to school.
We hadn't been sitting 10 minutes when an employee came into the movie and informed us we'd have to return our popcorn and drinks because the school card wasn't working. This is where my issues arise.
A.) This is LCS, not just a random group of people. We were paying with the school card, which legitimized the operation and they could have easily billed the school instead of embarrassing the leader of the after school program.
B.) There actions say this to me, "Regal cinemas would rather ruin your experience, embarrass you and throw all the food away than let you have it." We all had to go out and return our food and drink and take this walk of shame. It wasn't like they came around and collected them. All that will now end up in the trash. Good food and drink that could have been paid for through a simple billing process is now garbage.
I rarely go to the movies because of corporate greed, but I will never step foot inside a Regal Cinema again. Long Live...
Read moreThis might be the most overpriced theater I’ve ever been to. It’s decently clean, but the seats are also just mid. I have theaters everywhere else in my area back home that are 10 times better than this and regal is just a rich people cinema that isn’t even that good. And there’s absolutely no staff so if you order food here which is also crazy overpriced you’re gonna wait halfway through your movie before you get it. They definitely just need more staff. The OnePlus side of this whole entire theater is that they show exclusive reruns of the Ghibli films each year and they show exclusive reruns of anniversary films, but nine times out of 10 they charge you even more for those reruns then they do a regular film release. And I know everybody is like I’m gonna buy the regal pass or whatever but bro I ain’t spending 22.99 a month which is like more than I’ll probably pay for anything subscription ever in a month. All I’m saying is I’d rather pay a bunch of money for food at the venue theater, which is only a little bit further away and the tickets are four bucks apiece for better seats and cleaner theater. And better vibes...
Read moreHonestly overall it’s a decent experience, however, you probably won’t feel like you got your monies worth. I’ll go sometimes if I care about a movie but I’ll probably wait for the venue discount theater. But you can always tell how much they care about their customers when it comes to opening nights of big movies, for instance the most recent being Avengers Endgame. They do not offer reserved seating and this needs fixed. I will go to the regal for most movies I really care about but for big releases you can find me at the Alamo in Charlottesville walking in on opening night about 15min before the movie starts with my wife. I’ve sat in line for a premiere night for several hours to be first in line only to have regal employees let friends in through a back door before the line got in. I’ve had other costumers save rows of seats for friends who couldn’t wait in line and when I asked regal employees they would say it’s policy not to save seats and shrug their shoulders and leave. So if your wallet wants to feel appreciated, go to regal. If you want to feel appreciated, I’ll see you in...
