I have had many visits to the optometrist since I was young. And nothing quite like this. I was offered an up charge of some fancy eye check. When I denied it even if insurance covered it. They did to me for free without telling me. Even tho they pushed hard for me to get it originally. Only to tell me at the end of the checkup that it was always complementary for first-time visitors. It seemed like cheap sales techniques to me. Then I was told it was best that I should get the most expensive package and that my usual option would soon be discounted and that no one would offer it. They gave me two options, very poor quality or an uber expensive one. After I tried the 1 month option. It was painful in the first week. I called, and the front desk fessed up that my original prescription contacts weren't actually goings to be discounted by the maker but, rather that Vison Source was just not interested in offering it anymore. I was upset because they used more cheap car salesman tactics to try and manipulate me. I asked for them to order my original option as it was always best for me. They did and told me that I would be able to get the right prescription in 7-10 business days. I called a few days later, and they told me that the prescription wasn't there yet. I called a week after that, and they told me that it had arrived 1 week ago and that their system said I was contacted already. I asked that they set me up with the soonest date available for a fitting, and the receptionist said 4 days from the day I called. I told them that it was reduiculus that they couldn't book me sooner. Then she said, "Let me see if I can move some stuff around to help you." And with a simple click, she said that the following day was available. I almost couldn't believe the nerve of these people. I was actually not surprised at this point.
Any trust that I had in the Vison Source team was erroted away with all the lies and poor poor customer servers. I will never do business with such a questionable group of people again. I have definitely learned my lesson. They are all about money and could care less about helping you. Once they have your cash,...

When I went in for an emergency visit with Dr. Gilbar, he blew me away with his enthusiasm, knowledge, and genuine passion. His bedside manner was warm and gentle with an enthusiasm and optimism that was infectious! He listened to my issues, took me seriously when I was uncertain, walked me through his thought process, and provided several possible answers that matched the information we had. Best of all, and something that I love in a medical provider, he was unafraid to say "I'm not sure," and "this isn't my area of expertise," instead of insisting that he knew best. My problem was resolved with the treatment plan he recommended, but he gave me his personal cell number in case I had trouble!
The care I received wasn't just limited to Dr. Gilbar, either. Rachel and Elizabeth at the front desk helped me through awkwardness surrounding insurance and billing and made me feel welcome during the visit. Renata helped with tests and check-in procedures with that care and compassion everyone had.
Going to a Doctors' office isn't usually fun, but this experience was exceptional, and I'll be coming back for...
Read moreI have been going to this practice for 35 years or so, when it was run by Dr Hyde and Dr Pfieffer. During this period, their practice was absolutely first rate. Both were terrific optometrists to interact with. Since the time they both retired, I feel that the practice has taken a slight downward trend.
The optical department has bottomed out, with opticians that are unfriendly and don't seem well qualified in their field. If I could rate this department separately as one star, I would. The last two times I have gotten new glasses prescribed did not go well.
The first incident, I had to debate with the appointed optician at the time, that the glasses were causing distortion in my vision. I followed their advice to adapt to the new lenses for a couple weeks. When my vision continued to be uncomfortable, they eventually found out that the progression on the lenses was done incorrectly and they had to grind new lenses. The second time, my prescription (OD side) had a mistake with the astigmatism measured off incorrectly by 90 degrees. The optician said, "Oh it takes a couple of weeks to get use to it." Not an indication of competence.
It may be...
