The view is outstanding. This is off the beaten path, but so worth the stop. It costs nothing to tour. It had nice informative posters of the fort design, previous recreations and you can walk the wall to see most of the island's South shore. Being on the wall, you can imagine what it must have been like to fire a musket at the troops below. The "take the high ground" has relevant meaning at this location. If you are biking there is a short cut to skull cave,. but it us not for the novice biker. Be careful...

Read moreWhat a huge whiff on the rebuild of this fort. The interior structure is 2 stories but there is no stairs and thus access to the 2nd story, where the views would be awesome. Prior to the rebuild, you could see 279 degrees of the straits. Now, there is only a small platform. The have signs that say do no climb the structure and walls (look at public pictures...there is a family on top of the wall) but I can see why. That is where the views are!! ...
