Kim Nhung Superfood — Attraction in Madison Heights

I walked into this new location on John R, at 5:10pm on a Wednesday after work, to see how this store compares to another Asian store in Madison Heights that I have been shopping at. I had not shopped at the old location. The place was clean and well organized. The shelves were filled up. Compared to the other store, the produce section is less extensive but everything I saw was in good condition. I bought a bunch of 16 Thai bananas. They had very little bruising. They were in a plastic tray well wrapped in plastic wrap. The Thai bananas at the other store are just thrown in a big pile and get all bruised and damaged. The unfrozen fish looked more expensive that the other store. I bought a package of frozen "galongong" fish (aka galunggong or blue mackerel or round scad), repackaged in the store, for a good price of $2.99 a lb... Have been going to the old location for years. Very good prices at the old location.

The new location is very clean. Easy to walk through.

Time will tell if this new location has it.

The old place was small and had little overhead. This place will be a challenge.

Why do we go here? It has all the ingredients for PHO. That’s it. Simple as that.

Updated Came yesterday. Very huge place. Good prices! Great parking. Same prices from old location! They need to keep more Hot food available. That food flies off the shelf too fast. Was looking for some chicken and rice. Next...

We were excited for this place to open, even made it a point to go on grand opening day.

We purchased short ribs with a sell by date of 4/29. Opened it this morning to slow cook them, and it was like half of the meat was old, and half was fresher. Of the 9-10 pieces of short rib, 4 of them smelled rotten, 7 days before their sell by date. We buy short ribs often, and have never had an issue like this. I’d stay away from the meat here,...
