The library has recently been built ( the old location a few buildings down) and it’s beautiful. The floor plan is spacious, they have individual laptops instead of chunky desktops that force you to sit in certain areas and they have great spaces to read, meet up and enjoy. They have updated technology with wireless printing, streaming music and renting books via tablets and kindles. There is just one big problem I have with the library - they don’t have staff that truly understand how to use and troubleshoot the wonderful technology they have. If something doesn’t work the way “the paper instructions “ says it should then you need to simply pack up and go home cause you will never get the problem solved. I hope the library can either implement some training programs or hire tech savvy employees so we can get the most of the wonderful things offered at the library. (Experience at the Madison Branch)

Cute place with lots of places to sit and even a few private rooms. I used to bring my kids here when they were little so even though it's a new place, it brought back good memories. It was quiet when I was there. I love that they have a maker space and local art in the back. They also have a bookstore.

Friendly helpful staff! They gave me so much information that I didn’t even realize I wanted or needed! I truly enjoyed my first trip and it surely will not be my last! Support your local library!

I was there a few days ago needing to send some very important paperwork out and couldn't figure out the type of file to send it in and Steven went above and beyond to help me figure it out with such a positive and kind spirit!

Thanks again Steven!!

Update

While the staff is pleasant the amount of distraction allowed here is getting out of hand. I was there the other day trying to study and there was a person in the middle of the library having a full blown conversation on speaker phone talking in a voice that you would use if you were out and about… not in the library and her tone was very aggressive to whomever she was speaking with. I feel as though the staff should have asked her to lower her voice or take the call somewhere else. I ended up leaving because it was outrageous.

Another update:

This library can be obnoxiously loud. The patrons as well as the staff are loud. They need to establish some boundaries within. How is the Huntsville library 5 times or more the size and...

Not from Madison. In town for a quick weekend visit. Had a few hours to kill, so my wife recommended the library. We love libraries, so we gave it a shot. Wow! Beautiful space. We'll organized. Open concept in a way, but separated by convenient glass windows and doors. We've visited libraries in Boston, D.C., Raleigh-Durham, Louisville, and New Orleans for similar reasons, and never been to a nicer neighborhood public library. I loved that the Children's area was large and open, but closed from the rest of the library, allowing the kids to make noise and explore. Also, having a family restroom in the Children's area is great. The teen area was also closed off, and there even a quiet reading space closed off. Great job to the design team for this. Finally, to those working here: we arrived right after opening on Saturday morning and the place looked great. Everything was orderly and presented well. If I lived in the area, we would definitely frequent...
