It is unfortunate my experience with this shop was NOT a good experience. I dropped off my classic car with a list of things to be done. It took literally close to two months to supposedly fix. While backing it in and out of a working bay they claimed my brake caliper broke off and damaged one of my rims. They never offered to repair the rim even with a rim repair company literally 2 minutes from Magic Mechanics shop. I bought all new wheels and tires.. Then I had the damaged rim repaired on my dime. However all I got was an owner telling me how lucky I was it did not happen on the road. I did not argue about the incident. After my car was there a few months at M.M. They told me it was finally ready. I excitedly took my car home after all listed repairs were supposedly done. Now I am driving the car with a trunk load of coscto groceries and 2 teenage boys. The car just dies out on a main road which now we know ran out of gas. This was due to an inaccurate fuel gauge/tank repair, which was one of the priorities on the list to fix. I had the car towed believing we had fuel from the still malfunctioning "showing full" gas gauge. I also had close to a full tank of premium fuel which never went back into my car. Brought it back again to have it refixed again only to have it still malfunctioning today. Now here is the "real kicker" I had the car detailed by a high end "detail experienced in restomod type" company after all these go back repairs. The detail gentleman told me my car needed a paint correction on one side which I found quite strange as the car was pretty close to flawless regarding the paint. (Something I did not detect as I was preparing the car for consignment) Fast forward to recently I ran into an ex-employee of M.M. He explained to me why my car stayed at M.M for longer than usual the second time Larry was going to make it right. Turns out one of the workers accidentally scratched the side of the car pretty deep which caused it needing repair and touch up repaint. Here is my big issue with M.M, owners dishonesty, defensive bad attitude, with I am doing you a "favor type attitude". I explained the towing of my car due to the fuel gauge not being repaired properly. ( By the way I had my two young teenage son's push the car off the main road) to get it out of the way. Then I called my daughter who had to come transport all the frozen costco foods while I waited for a tow truck put it on a flat bed tow truck. Larry's response was I was lucky they did restomods and took my car in at all with his backlog of work. I only post honest reviews. Sometimes things happen, however it is always best to be honest and do the...
Read moreI generally take my 2019 F150 to the dealer but since it is now out of warranty I decided to get a couple of preventative maintenance items done by an independent service provider. I had always heard positive feedback about the Magic Mechanic and it is close to my office so I took it there. I dropped it off around 8am and asked for them to perform an oil change, tire rotation, cooling flush and transmission drain and fill. I also asked them to install a new splash guard I purchased from Ford as the original one was in poor condition. It was 4pm and I had not heard from them so I called. I was informed it wasn’t ready yet but should be in about 30 minutes. When I arrived it was ready. I paid the bill and went home. Once home I checked to see if the splash guard had been replaced and was surprised to see they put the old one back on. I checked the oil level and coolant level. The coolant level was low and the oil level was ok. Fast forward two weeks later. I was traveling to Pensacola to see family and was just east of Tallahassee when the transmission started downshifting at highway speed and was overheating. I pulled off the highway and parked it. Got out and smelled burning transmission fluid. Looked under the truck and saw transmission fluid all over the undercarriage. I then called and spoke to Aaron at the Magic Mechanic to find out where I should take it and what the warranty would be if it turned out to be something related to their service. Aaron became very defensive and unhelpful. He had no advice or help to give and basically said I was on my own. I took it to the nearest Aamco where they were extremely nice and helpful. Leroy got my truck in immediately to diagnose the issue. Within 45 minutes he explained the issue. The transmission fluid was over filled causing it to overheat and push fluid out of the vent. They adjusted the fluid to the proper level, test drove it and said all was ok. I paid them $85 and went on my way. About 30 minutes later I received a phone call from Leroy checking to make sure everything was ok. I have not had an issue since. It’s obvious the tech at Magic Mechanic overfilled the transmission causing this issue. I will never take any of my vehicles to them again and will tell as many people as I can about the poor service and follow up I received. Thank you to Leroy and his staff at Aamco in Tallahassee for their great service...
Read moreVery disappointed in their service. Day 1: Dropped my vehicle off a little after 7 am. I had to call the shop twice to a status. Mid afternoon I was finally told what the diagnosis was. Service person also told me how busy he was and that he not eaten lunch yet (Why do I need to know this?). Was told the vehicle would be ready tomorrow morning and that I would be called when repairs complete. Day 2: Never received call from shop. I called shop around 1 pm. Spoke to service person who informed me that the parts did not arrive in the morning and that he just realized this (Question: Were the parts not delivered or were the parts not ordered?). Was told that parts will be delivered this afternoon and vehicle will be completed in the morning. Day 3: No call from shop in the morning. I called shop around 1:30 pm. Spoke to service person who told me that the work on my vehicle has not even started yet. The work on another vehicle needs to be completed before the technician can start on my vehicle. Was also informed that the vehicle being worked on by the technician has been in their shop for 10 days. Was then told that my vehicle may be completed sometime tomorrow. This is now the end of Day 3. Will I actually get my vehicle back tomorrow or will it be 10 days? In addition to the repair bill that I am going to receive, I am also paying for a rental vehicle. This shop has a very good reputation, but they have not demonstrated it very well with this visit. I am so disappointed with the lack of service and professionalism of the Magic Mechanic. Captain's Log Day 4: Repairs completed on vehicle and vehicle back in my possession. Repair cost ended up being half of what I was originally quoted (Very happy about that). Not all of the parts that were not delivered on Day 2 were needed for repair. Hopefully this is a one off experience and not the beginning of a trend. As stated before, this shop has a good reputation and I would hate to see the service here go downhill. I'll upgrade my original rating of one star to...
