My husband and I stayed here recently to wait out some weather on our passage south. It ended up being a delightful stopover. The marina is beautifully situated with very nice amenities, and it's walking distance from plenty of provisioning options as well as the shops and restaurants in downtown Manteo. Tim, the dockmaster, was extremely helpful in assisting us in navigating the channel in as well as with docking. He gave us a great intro to the town and helped us get oriented. When we left, wind was blowing me onto the dock hard and Tim and the dock staff were able to help me turn my boat 180 degrees with dock lines so that I could pull straight out of the marina. Stayed for 3 nights and the 2nd day was stormy. Had to go out a couple of times to reposition the fenders that were against the pilings. There is a pool and the clubhouse was very nice, with a pool table. Marina restaurant is also good. If you want to rent a car, the car dealer is a 10 minute walk. Very convenient.
Bathrooms are 2 stalls and always open. There are 2 showers in separate rooms accessible with a key. However, you can't lock the shower door from the inside to prevent someone from entering while you are thee. Suggestion - put an inside lock...

Tim (a former National Park Service ranger) gave us a great overview of the history of the area. The location is a short scooter ride to downtown Manteo. Tim & Ian were always there to catch lines, answer questions & ensure everything was running smoothly. The restaurant, Stripers, was great for Sunday brunch.
The team handled a near crises with true professionalism. One of the condos within the marina caught fire. Ian grabbed a hose & begin spraying the source until the fire department arrived. The fire chief said he helped prevent the...
