Had a great experience with a recent fatbike (Canyon Mukluk) rental here. I booked online, and had the bike that evening. Brian delivered it to KDH, and gave me a quick overview.
The next day, I was packing it into the car and taking it back, because due to riding in the sand around the Weight Brothers memorial, I filled the front and rear tires with cactus spikes. I was ready to just call off the week rental, and let Brian keep the remainder of the $$$. He wouldn't have any of that. He dropped what he was doing and put on two new tires and tubes, offering some good ideas of places to ride while doing so. He refused to take any payment for doing so, even though I insisted that he shouldn't have to shoulder the costs of new tires and tubes due to my stupidity.
I had never ridden a fatbike before, (and probably never will again) but was thankful for the opportunity to try something new at the beach, instead of getting stuck with the options of "beach cruisers or nothing".
I'll definitely rent from here again, although next time a road bike (or gravel bike if available). I'd highly recommend to anyone in the OBX in need of a fun...
Read moreI have a Trek road bike. Got a flat just before the Manteo Bridge on a ride from Nags Head with my Brother. Of course I did not have a spare. Checked Google - Manteo Cyclery was 3 miles up the road. Called wife to get us and drop at the bike shop. Brian had me back on the road in no time of getting there. I was so impressed with his service, pricing and professionalism, my bike was ready for tune up anyway, so I dropped the bike off the next day. Brian worked his magic. Replaced a "needed" noisy crank cartridge and adjusted the shimano derailleur, brakes etc. did not recognize the bike he cleaned it up so well. I could not have been happier. If you are going to be spending some time in the outer banks and in need of bike service you will not be disappointed.
Follow up. We visited the OBX at the end of June 2020. Took my bike back to Brian for a tune up. Same great service, Same great...
Read moreThe service I received on my Edmonda Trek was excellent. Brian adjusted my disc breaks in 5 minutes and explained what needed to be fixed while doing it. The following day I was able to do 30 mile ride. If anyone has disc breaks they may have had to adjust them if you take the wheel off and accidentally hit the breaks to close the calipers. Brian knew exactly how to adjust this issue.
In addition, prior to going to the Monteo Cyclery my front disc was making an annoying noise when riding. Three other bike shops back home one in Maryland and Two in Virginia did not successfully adjust my breaks like Brian did to make the...
