[edit 08-04-15] I spoke with Teresa the owner of the Maple Grove office and explained the issues that happened at her store. She was very nice and listened to my concerns. She offered to refund my money and I refused stating I didn’t write the review to get a refund. While she can't change what happened to me she did say she would talk with her people. I did agreed to give them another try if I had any new issues with my computer. I am changing the number of stars because of Teresa.
I was very disappointed with the level of technical service I received with the work done on my computer. They had it for 5 days, I stopped in the store before dropping my desktop off asking some key questions. I was assured they could find the root of my issues. The video card needs a special adapter to hook up the monitor and I asked if they would like me to bring in the adapter and was told no. I even told them the model of my video card. We talked about possibly upgrading my video card.
So I dropped my PC off on Saturday afternoon and was told I might be called on Sunday or Monday with recommendations. I didn't hear anything on Sunday by 3pm so my husband called for a status. He was told it hadn't made it on the bench.
After 5 days they didn’t find any reason for the issues I was experiencing and recommended I re install my operating system.
After paying for the service (?) they provided I didn't get a receipt of what it was they did. I was so frustrated with the previous conversation, not having a computer for 5 days that I didn't' think at the time to ask for one.
It seems to me the only solution they can offer is to wipe the computer. Yes they did say they didn't want to do that. But that was the only option provided.
On Friday a friend of my who lives out of state and works on computers for his company remoted into my PC. He found several things that could be causing my issues. One thing he found was that I had two antivirus software’s running. Apparently I only thought I had uninstalled one. Why didn't Device Pitstop find that? My friend stated I do not need to reinstall my OS.
I would recommend that you get a clear understanding of what will be happen to your computer when you...
Read moreI recently downloaded the Windows 10 Anniversary update on my laptop, and it fried my computer! It wouldn't even boot up. I took the it to Device Pitstop in Maple Grove and Max saved all the files on my hard drive, and reset my computer to the factory default. He reloaded all my files, ran the updates, and it was good to go. The only thing I had to do was load my programs. Since all my files were saved, I didn't lose a thing. The service was fast and efficient, and they didn't charge an arm and a leg like a lot of tech services do. Since I'm not very tech savvy I really appreciated that Max was very patient explaining everything that had been done and what I had to do. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Device Pitstop as the best tech support in the Metropolitan area.
Once again I had a problem with one of my computers.
My Windows 7 Image manager was corrupted and wouldn't boot. I had already gone through the computer support services at Costco concierge and Dell computer support and spent many hours trying to fix this computer to no avail, my computer wouldn't reboot.
The Device Pitstop technician who worked on my computer had it fixed in about 10 minutes, and said he spent so little time on it that he didn't charge me. I've used Device Pitstop in the past and I've always been impressed with how thorough, competent, efficient and professional they are. I think they're the best computer repair and support service in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing computer or cell phone repair and support. 10/31/2025 Once again Device Pitstop came to my rescue. I had a BitLocker block on my computer that made it totally unusable. (Like the blue screen of death). They were able to reinstall windows, retrieve some of my files and put a new SSdrive in. Austin, Steven, and Brock did a great job, and once again, I would highly recommend this business for...
Read moreI have used Device Pitstop in the past but this time around, they went above what I expected of them. I brought my desktop in because it wouldn't turn on around Dec. It took me until end of Feb. to bring it in. It had Windows 7 which, they said, could be the problem. They offered to install Windows 10 for $100 (they waived the $50 diagnostic charge). I said go ahead. Couple days later it was ready to be picked up. In bringing it home, it was the next day I hooked it back up and turned it on to start working from it again. It was that each day I would turn it on, it took a few times to actually turn on because it would crash. Then, it just would crash all of the time. I brought it back it told them the issue. A few days passed and I was called and said I could pick it up and that they couldn't find any issue with it. They had been turning it off and on through out the time it was their w/ no issue. When I went in, the tech who waited on me asked me if I would like him to hook it up to his monitor so I could see that it was working fine. So he did, and thankfully, it was at that time my computer wouldn't turn on and crash all of the time for them. He then offered for them to transfer my hard drive and such into a another hardware desktop they had sitting there (better then what I had). I asked how much and he said $50. So I sat and waited and within 15 minutes or so, it was done. They rang me up and they didn't charge me at all for the new hardware. I mean, I was floored. I am so thankful that this is a company that doesn't try and shaft their customers like others at big box companies do. They value their customers because they know that you treat them right, they will come back and word of mouth is the best advertisement there is. Yep, they have a customer for life with me and my business. Thank you, Device Pitstop for being a company worth bragging...
