Very disappointed in the 'service' received from Magnum Appliances, which had come highly recommended to me by people in our city's FB page.
I called for service for my dishwasher, which was not draining. Dishwasher makes a small click sound when it attempts to drain, but the pump does not engage. I suspected either the pump was obstructed or it was burned out. The dishwasher is a Amana, which isn't the best brand, but is less than 2 years old.
Technician arrived the next day, I showed him the dishwasher and explained the problem. I walked back to the livingroom to let him do his work, after about 10-15 minutes he called me over. Told me the board was bad.
I asked him how he came to that conclusion, and he told me because when he presses Start, the dishwasher doesn't do anything, that the board is definitely bad. I disagreed, and explained to him that this dishwasher tries to pump water out for 60 seconds before it starts pumping fresh water in, and I showed him by pushing start and waiting the 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, the washer filled with water and started cleaning. I then showed him how the drain function isn't working, by hitting cancel. You can hear the small click, but the drain pump doesn't engage. He says okay maybe pump is bad. He took a bunch of pictures on his phone, said thank you, and left.
I don't remember if it was the next day or the day after that, but the technician had not given me any information and I had not heard back from Magnum, so I called them and asked to look into my technician visit because I wasn't given any feed back. The person explained that their technician determined I needed a new board ($180, but backordered) and a new drain pump ($89 or so) and that they could have it in 10 days. Well, sticker shock. that's a lot of money for a dishwasher that is only $300-400 brand new. I told the lady I'd think about it and stop in the next day and got off the phone. I went to wash my dishes by hand, and not too long into that I noticed water spilling out from my sink. The technician had disconnected the drain pipe (to make sure it wasn't clogged, which is a good thing), but failed to reattach it properly and now all the dirty dishwater spilled into my cabinet and floor. Thankfully I was able to clean it up pretty quickly with a couple towels.
Anyhow, I decided to research and saw that this model is very easy to remove drain pump on. So I unplugged the dishwasher, removed the two screws that attach it to my cabinets, and pulled it out. Flipping it over, I remove the drain pump and out pops a small piece of glass that was obstructing the pump. I put the pump back on, plug it back in and.. guess what? Drains perfectly, runs perfectly.
I've replaced drain pumps before on different washers, I just didn't want to be bothered to do this. That is why I decided to pay a company to come out and handle it, and I expected them to do an actual diagnostic. While the tech did check the drain, he failed to inspect the pump or really do much of anything else and then assumed it was the board.
$70 is a lot for a 'service call' where the technician only pushed buttons and checked the drain...ridiculous. I don't feel like $70 is warranted given the situation, and am disinclined to use their services...
Read moreThis company is highly unprofessional. They are contracted by my property manager. They have yet to bring a proper working refrigerator. This is the second time that they have brought a refrigerator to my house but does not cool my food. The refrigerator is not running and it does not work. They have also spray painted the fridge and brought the fridge into my home fuming of paint fumes. They lack professionalism and reliability. I have been without a working refrigerator since Wednesday they have brought multiple refrigerators and each refrigerator is worse than the other. When I called in for a replacement my meat was frozen at this point my meat is totally unfrozen I am out of money cuz this is the food for my children for the week. I went grocery shopping thinking about the refrigerator would eventually cool and that they actually brought a working refrigerator . I am out of food not because we ate it because we have no means of cooling the food. I have reached out to my landlord today I was promised that someone would call me back from Magnum Appliance and no one has. I am extremely upset because I have children who depend on the milk in the fridge that is now no longer any good and I have insulin in the fridge that has not had a proper cooling since Wednesday. This company and my rental property should be ashamed of themselves. They lack professional skills. And they should close business because they are not effectively carrying out any type business. This is a hassle and a bother to my everyday life. I have to unload everything out of my fridge I have to make sure that someone is home and available to meet the maintenance people to switch out the fridge I have to take everything out the freezer. After doing it for the second time this is definitely not something that I would like to continue doing and I should not have to do this is a hassle an a large inconvenience to my life. I do believe that I should be compensated for all the food that I have lost. So to save yourself there are many other Appliance companies out there my advice would be to check out those Avenues first. I'm not sure why my rental property is using this company I'm figuring maybe because they are cheap and it tells in the quality of work that...
Read moreUPDATE. 11/16 so yeah the tech called to cancel my appointment because he's not coming. So yeah great company
UPDATE. 11/15 called several times asking to speak to Mariana, but surprise I was told she wasn't available. Left my name and number but she never called me back either. If the message was ever even relayed. Set yet another appointment with yet another representative. Hopefully someone shows up and they fix the issues this time... Gave an extra Star because my representative was actually pleasant today
They have come on 6 separate occasions to fix their refrigerator that mysteriously is still leaking. I have been trying to get this plus my dryer serviced for the past week with no luck. The service tech never bothered to show up during their huge appointment window, nor did he bother to call to say he wasn't going to be able to make it. I tried to call halfway through my appointment time to check on the status of the tech but of course I was basically told to just wait he'll be there eventually... A+ customer service right? Called again when he didn't show up. Got slightly better service being that this rep actually bothered to call the tech... He wasn't coming. Got put on the call list to set another appointment which for some odd reason can only be done 24 hours before the appointment. The rep was clearly annoyed that I wasn't available during normal working hours, because what reasonable adult isn't home between 10 and 1pm.... The nerve of me right? Want an appointment after 1pm? No, we'll just call you tomorrow. Still not available in the morning... Yeah maybe tomorrow, better yet let's just do next week. I don't need dry clothes anyway and who doesn't love a puddle in...
