The Slab Premium Meats — Attraction in Maricopa

Edit: We tried the meat. It's good, but it's not better enough than ground sirloin at Walmart for me to change my review. Will update my review after we actually try the meat. This is just an initial review of their customer service, which kind of just missed the mark for me. This was my first experience with The Slab and the associate I interacted with wasn't rude, but he also wasn't very helpful or eager to help. My husband and I were considering making what would be a little bit of a lifestyle change - from shopping exclusively at big chain stores to supporting more local and small businesses. This was an investigation for me. I mainly wanted to know what the experience would be like, and what it would cost. I guess I kind of expected, since it is a small business, for the experience to be more personal, but I was a bit dissappointed. I had hoped an associate would see that we were new and would offer to help. I had to be more assertive, and then even when I asked questions the associate I spoke to didn't seem very knowledgeable, and he also seemed uncomfortable and confused that I was asking basic questions like "what are the prices like per lb for chicken breast, usually?" Considering they are a butcher shop, that doesn't seem like an unreasonable question to me. But if I'm missing something, a little bit of an offered explanation would have been nice. The way the interaction went, it just looked like the associate didn't want to put in any effort to get that information for me, and was hoping I would just go away. This place is something else. My friend and hairstylist told me about this meat shop, her husband loves it and she recommended it a lot. After finally having a break from the cruel summer temps, my husband was desperate to grill something, so he went last week. He came back extremely happy with a few pounds of chicken breast and flank steak. I was surprised by the prices, so worth it! I used to buy all the meat, poultry and fish at Costco... Never again, I'll buy it from now on at The Box, the quality is amazing, we grilled the flank steaks during the weekend and it was delicious! Soft, tasty and clean. The chicken breasts were also very good and big!!!. I have cooked honey garlic chicken and chicken parmesan over the past couple of days, they tasted better, this chicken is the best. So far I’ve tried the brisket flat, chicken and grilling cedar river prime sirloin as we speak.

Brisket: The brisket flat was well trimmed and pretty much ready to smoke out of the bag! (Huge time saver).

The meat was amazing. Juicy and very flavorful and fresh.

Chicken: I smoke & grill a lot of chicken. To be honest I didn’t expect to be “wowed” as much as the beef....but BOY was I wrong! The chicken may have been the most noticeable in taste compared to grocery store meat. Possibly best chicken I’ve ever smoked no joke.

I was blown away by the flavor, juiciness. I don’t know the science behind meat, but the chicken seemed to absorb the pecan smoke better and more even. Not sure why?

Finally I end my review by tasting the prime sirloin at this very moment....grilled to medium...and UNBELIEVABLE! This sirloin tasted as tender as a filet
