Veterans Memorial Park — Attraction in Marple Township

Free park that is great for walkers. Circular, flat, paved path that is about 0.25 miles that is under shade for about 1/3 of the circuit. There are several benches along the path if you want to sit and enjoy being outside. There is a children's playground inside the park that has sections labeled for ages 2-5 and 5-12, with a covered pavilion and picnic tables for parents or eating. The playground was updated fairly recently (I forget when but maybe 2021) with the recycled rubber ground and nice sets, but is totally in the sub. The center of the park is a large field that is often used for local kid's sports but is also used for families to play soccer or throw a baseball. Has a public restroom that is reasonably clean. There is parking next to the park, which is usually plenty except when a kid's sports team is playing or a Pokemon Go event is happening. If you play Pokemon Go, this is a great spot with lots of stops and gyms. There are other events that happen here, like story time with the local library, kids parties, and so on that can be fun to attend but disrupt...

This is my favorite park! There is a ton of parking and they have bathrooms! There is a track which i believe is 1000m long, but i'm not certain, with plenty of benches to rest on. There is a large field for sports and i often spread out a picnic blanket there. There are quite a few shady spots. They have areas for bocce and horseshoes also. There are several picnic tables and a large gazebo. There is a playground good for younger & older children alike. There are 2 drinking water fountains located near the playground. This park also happens to be THE place to play Pokemon...

It begins. This was a great playground to escape some of the awful surrounding towns people. But, last time I went, the crowd was changing (you know what I mean). The zip line was broken and not replaced, two "Rowdy kids" kids were throwing the swing over the bars. They leave their garbage and trash everywhere. In the next year or two, this playground will probably experience the same treatment as other nice playgrounds that get a more diverse crowd.

For now, it's great 80 percent of the time. Some really nice families...
