The Superior Dome is simply awesome and unique. It's really cool inside. It's just what the area needs for indoor activities like college or high school football. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a great place and winter's are awesome for outdoor recreation and winter sports, but in football season, the weather does not cooperate usually. Before the Dome, I remember growing up here and attending so many NMU football games and when it was cold and rainy...very miserable for fans. Indoor in the Superior Dome changes that. The dome is 143 feet tall, has a diameter of 536 feet, covers an area of 5.1 acres. It is a geodesic dome constructed with 781 Douglas Fir beams and 108.5 miles of fir decking. The dome is designed to support snow up to 60 pounds per square foot and withstand 80-mile-per-hour winds. It has a permanent seating capacity of 8,000, though the building can hold as many as 16,000 people.
The 2010 edition of Guinness World Records listed it as the fifth-largest dome and largest wooden dome in the world.

When I went to leave, we were parked in by several other cars parked in no parking zones, when we attempted to get staff to do something we were told they needed to get their manager, we waited 20 minutes and this manager never showed up. When we initially called the police 3 separate people were told "there is nothing we can do", even though the cars in question were obviously parked illegally. Finally, after 45 minutes of waiting in the car police finally came and managed to get someone to move a car. Whole experience was completely ridiculous. May never come for an...
