Small dining area. Order and pay at the counter. 7 tables. Small place.
There is black duct tape on the floor, their cobbled stone linoleum is coming up.
Why is this place even called Java Bay? They only have regular coffee or decaf. They give you a mug if you would like their coffee here. We took a pass. My husband prefers lattes or mochas or flavored coffees.
The staffer at the counter suggested we go across the street to Velodrome Coffee, since they have no good coffee options.
We will have to stop by elsewhere to get a decent coffee for the hubby.
Ordered the mushroom omelet, side of rye bread and the hash tag. No berries for the sweet oats & berries - can’t order that then.
I wasn’t able to get a physical receipt. I was told I will get an email. It’s been over an hour and no email so far. Would it be so hard right print out a receipt for me?
At the moment I am regretting our choice to come here immediately. Our order decreased by their unavailability of key ingredients for the oatmeal. We could have gotten hot oatmeal for free back at the hotel and wild berries at least.
They have no non-pork sausage or non-pork options at all. Just eggs as a substantial meat option. :(
Not an extensive menu for sure.
There was a short blonde, light brown wavy hair at the bottom of my omelet, found it after two bites into the omelet. It was sadly at the bottom of the omelet, so, I didn’t see it until I cut into it. Gross.
I brought it to the staffer’s attention, she couldn’t see it. I had to pull it out in front of her to see it. She didn’t manage to apologize and instead asked if I would like her to remake it, or what, eat the omelet contaminated with hair in it?
This breakfast experience gets worse by the minute. I had to wait for my redo of my food, she informed me it would take 10 more minutes. Thinking it was because the skeletal cook in the back has other orders to do for the folks that arrived and ordered after us to get their food. Another table of food out for another group of guests that came after us.
I got to eat my omelet about 15 minutes after my husband finished his breakfast hash tag.
The hash tag was okay.
Oh good. I finally got my redo mushroom omelet 15 minutes later and after two tables that arrived and ordered after us got their food before my redo food due to a hair. I see they have their priorities in disorder. Good for them.
My second mushroom omelet has no hair in it. Yay! The only flavor is pepper on top of the egg, which is wrapped over the eggs, tomatoes and mushroom. Mushrooms are good, lack luster as far as flavor though. At least they use fresh mushrooms.
The rye toast is soggy from the omelet. And they placed two butter packets on top and over the toast. I am sure many hands have been on these packets.
This breakfast trip has extended over an hour of our life. I am left thoroughly disgusted and disappointed in the abominable service of this place.
Not super comforting hearing the cook in the back sneezing, twice. Hope it’s just allergies. I am glad I can’t see back there at all. Given the output of the food so far. Cleanliness and good customer service doesn’t seem to be...
Read more70 minutes for a breakfast burrito and an ham, egg, & cheese sandwich is INSANE. We came in on a Sunday morning around 930am, it seemed steadily busy but not packed (they were processing dine-in and takeout orders). We ordered at the counter for dine-in, service staff was nice but they gave absolutely no warning about how long the food would take to arrive. After waiting about 30 minutes, we thought it was taking a long time but figured it should be out soon. At 45 minutes, the cashier staff checked on other tables but not us, no update on our order. I tracked her down to ask for our order to-go, she quickly nodded and still no update. We waited another 25 minutes. When we finally got our food, one of the cooks rushed it out to us - I had been waiting in line to ask for a refund. It was almost 11 before we got our food and the food was not bad, not great - nothing worth waiting that long for..
I am completely understanding if a business is slammed or busy and food takes a long time, and I'm sure the cooks are working hard BUT you need to tell the customer when the wait is that extreme. We would have then had the choice to say we'll go somewhere else, or we would have explored the town and came back to pick it up considering we only had about an hour in Marquette.
All in all - do not go here unless you have a lot of extra time to wait. I wish I would've read the reviews before...
Read moreBiggest problem by far was the wait. For 10 dollars my burrito was pretty good, but my friend's food was very cold and none of it was worth 40 minutes of waiting. I was fine with the wait when the place was busy, but eventually the place cleared out and we were waiting for 30 minutes in an empty restaurant. I work in a kitchen, I could see that they only had 3 or 4 tickets hung up at the most while we were waiting. I see that the owners reply to some of these saying that the wait is because of takeout, but if the wait is constantly at least 30 minutes for dine-in then the place shouldn't be doing takeout, or they should at least manage it better. The staff was also very cold, the person at the register seemed annoyed the entire time and wouldn't really talk to us. I'm only listing that as a complaint because I've seen multiple other people citing the same thing. Overall, extremely long wait and unwelcoming service. The place seemed like a cool spot to quick stop at before our drive back, but it only ended up keeping us from home for an hour. I spend less time at any sit-down restaurant than I...
