Mason Community Center – A Welcoming Gem with Room to Grow
Earlier this year, I visited the Mason Community Center pool after hearing someone rave about how neat it was—and they weren’t wrong. That one visit turned into a membership, and I’ve been grateful ever since.
🌟 Staff & Atmosphere From the moment you walk in, the front desk team—ladies and gentlemen alike—greet you with a cheerful “Hi” that makes you feel seen. The lifeguards are attentive and professional, keeping a close eye on everyone in the pool area. It’s clear they take safety seriously, and as a parent, that means everything.
🏊♀️ Facilities & Experience The pool itself is fantastic, and it’s easy to see why families and individuals alike enjoy spending time here. That said, there are a couple of areas that could use some love:
• Indoor seating: A few more tables would go a long way, especially for families trying to keep track of towels, snacks, and little ones. • Cleanliness in bathrooms/showers: The showers often have hair on the floors, and the overall upkeep could be improved. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it does affect the experience—especially when you’re trying to wrangle kids post-swim.
🚻 Family-Friendly Improvements I’m especially looking forward to the completion of the family bathrooms. Right now, using the women’s locker room can be a bit awkward—older women understandably change openly, but when you’ve got small children with you, it can be a little uncomfortable for them. Having a private, family-friendly option will make a big difference for caregivers like me.
💬 Final Thoughts Despite a few hiccups, I highly recommend checking out the Mason Community Center. It’s welcoming, well-run, and clearly committed to serving the community. With a few tweaks, it could go from great to...
Read moreThe center can provide a decent experience ... until a diaper disaster struck (i.e., a fecal incident) at the pool. In response to the exploding diaper, they did not replace the water, but rather only used chemicals to somehow clean it. While these incidents are unavoidably common for public pools, it is how they respond that makes a difference.
How they clean the kid pool is not the only issue. Folks sometimes do not cover themselves properly in the kids pool and no one confronts them about it. Sometimes the pool closes early due to certain events and they only sent out emails very shortly before the new closing time. They also close the pool during prime hours (e.g., MWF? 5-8PM) for certain activities. During breaks, it is fine but it is kind of pointless to have a family membership not being able to use the pool during the best time of the day for working parents. In addition, most, if not all, services beside the pool and kids corners are age-restricted. So realistically, for parents with young kids, the actual usage of a family membership is quite limited.
That said, the competition pool and the gym are nice. The competition pool is very clean and well-maintained, and is not subject to excessive blocked-out hours. If you are single and do not have kids, the above issues may not matter at all. But if you have kids, beware of...
Read moreHad a great time here up until the very end. Staying in town with family and the facilities here were super nice. Played pickleball for a few hours and went to cool off in the pool.
Toward the end of our visit(around 7 when the pool closes) a lifeguard came up to our party claiming to be the manager and scolded us for “jumping over the barrier” I myself hadn’t done anything but swam around, so I asked her if she was talking to me. She replied rudely with “of course Im talking to you” when I calmly explained that I had just been swimming around, she super loudly barked at me to “get out NOW” I complied, got out, and went to talk to her privately and quietly. I told her politely that I meant no disrespect and was curious as to why I was kicked out. Apparently it was for “attitude.” God forbid I ask why I’m being yelled at. She made a bunch of rude comments about the people in my party and told of “receiving complaints all day” despite our pool time only being around 45 minutes. Until this person is either retrained or removed I wouldn’t recommend the pool.
Had fun, played pickleball, but had the end of my trip spoiled by a power tripping employee who treated a grown adult like a child. I was nothing but respectful and was given disrespect for an experience that was quite...
