This was my first time here. They greeted us by asking if we had a reservation, when we said "no" the hostess kind of acted like we really should have called in first even though 7 of the 12 tables in view were empty and nobody was waiting in the lobby. They had a nice selection of local beer and wine(although it was quite pricey), but the food selection was extremely limited. Only 7 items for dinner. I had the burger w/ the "greens" since that was what came with it and nobody has figured out how to make sustainable potatoes yet. (fries anyone?..Hello...) there were no other options for sides. I like salad, but these were just leaves of lettuce w/ oil and some tasteless vinaigrette. They told me that they normally cook the meat to medium-well, so i asked for Medium. My burger was cooked well-done. A bit chewy for my taste and no pink center whatsoever. My sister had the crusted trout. It tasted very fishy and when the waiter came over to ask how everything was, she had just finished her water and set the glass down right in front of him. He didn't offer to bring her any more water. I guess he is trying to save the planet one glass of water at a time. Also he didn't offer any bread. We had to ask for it. Overall, i get the sustainable motif, i am from California, but to have so few options and the ones that you have are really not very good and then add the poor service, i only gave this place 2 stars because of their beer/wine selection. Even the chicken and waffles for $22 didn't have chicken breast, only thighs. The only reason i went here tonight was because the Malaysian restaurant down the street had a private event and was closed tonight. I am 45 years old from Los Angeles and i don't consider myself a "foodie" but i know bad food when i taste it. based on the other reviews, maybe i just caught them on a bad night, but im afraid I wont be back to give them another chance...
Read moreAfter wanting to try this restraunt for awhile now we finally did this afternoon. The dinning room is a quaint makeover of a 1930's colonial home (the drywall work is fantastic btw).
We were promptly greeted by the chef owner Todd who took our drink order. The unsweet tea was fantastic with a hint of blue berry. We ordered the cheese tray as an app which was amazing. Todd's refined palate showed its face with the combination of pureed fruit, blue and parmesan cheese, and tasty summer sausage. Couldnt quite put my finger on the sweetness adorning our tray, perhaps honey, but it was simple and had nice texture. I also had the soup de jour which could possibly be the best chicken fajita soup I've ever had.
As entrees we order the grilled cheese, and two burgers, one for my son and one for me. My wife ordered the grilled cheese with no blue cheese. Unfortunately our friendly waitress ignored this request. She also didn't order my burger, which was disappointing. Her last blunder was when she came back right before our food was served and asked about the toppings on our sons burger. We said he would like bacon and lettuce. Two minutes later his burger arrived with neither.
I ended eating my wife's grilled cheese and really really enjoyed it. It is obvious that a lot of thought was put into the dishes and the fact most of our food was locally attained made it all the more special.
Being my wife was dissapointed we didn't get to try the dessert. We will try it again because the food was so GOOD, but I really hope some effort is placed on getting the orders to the kitchen properly.
Todd is a chef to watch, I have a feeling this might just be the start of a flourishing...
Read moreI have been fortunate enough to eat at incredible restaurants around the world. Paris, London, Istanbul. I have lived in NYC for the last 7 years after growing up across the street from this restaurant. I have access to incredible food whenever I want it. All of this to say… I came home for a visit and my parents and I had dinner at Wildflower. It will likely be the most delicious meal of my life. I have thought about it at least once a day for a week. My dad had The OG Burger and said it was great (it was huge). The Moroccan spiced fries that came with it? Delicious, the perfect amount of spice. My mom and I shared the Wildflower Salad and the Butternut Squash Ravioli. “Like an entree and a dessert in one,” is what our server told us about the ravioli. Not wrong. It tastes like Thanksgiving and I mean that in the best way possible. I have never had better ravioli in my life. I went to Rome and ate 12 bowls of pasta over 6 days, pasta that I thought could never be beat, and none of them compare to this ravioli dish. I am compelled to write this review solely based on the ravioli. Please go treat yourself to this meal. Don’t share it with anyone either, have it all to yourself! I will be thinking about it for the rest of my life lol. Based on how incredible the meal was, we had to try dessert, so we shared the carrot cake. It was gorgeously presented and a very good carrot cake. Service was great and the restaurant itself is so nice, inside and outside. I hadn’t been since it very first opened and so much has changed! I’ve been missing out! I can’t wait for my next trip home so I can come back for more...
