My wife and I sometimes come here on Sundays before we go to the Crossroads in Mason. Usually, the service is okay, fast and the food, though the choices are limited, is good and the prices are fair. Today we had our worst experience there and it has prompted me to write this review. Today, we stopped in earlier before the morning rush. Though our waitress was helpful and kind, when our order of French toast and goetta arrived, we both noticed onions in our French toast. At first, we both thought it was a simple mistake: in a hurry, using one grill to cook multiple foods, etc. However, every bite was filled with onions! It was obvious to us that the onions had somehow gotten cooked into our French toast. We thought to say something but we normally aren't ones to complain. I planned to tell the cashier on our way out. We then got our check for breakfast and it was about $4-5 higher than expected. We were confused because our breakfast "meals" were supposed to be about $7 but were $9. When I let the cashier know my confusion, she fought with me on it and I had to ask her to provide me the menu at the checkout counter. I showed her that our meals show that they come with a meat on the side. We got goetta each which should be included in the $7 charge. She got someone else, whom I'm thinking was one of the owners, who was very rude and quick to say (she seemed in a rush), "So what's wrong?" I repeated my issue. She told me that no, the meat is in fact not included with the meal. It's purchased a la carte. We told her that this is very confusing and actually misleading. If you look at the menu, it clearly states that with the meals, you get a choice of side of meats. This isn't about the cost so much, although I do think 3 slices of French toast, about 3 goetta patties (one piece) and water for $10-11 is pricey for a small diner. This is about how we felt our food was prepared sloppily and how we were treated rudely. Finally, we noticed the employees there were standing around and talking as well as weren't dressed in a professional manner. I've worked in the service industry and I don't have a problem with employees standing around and conversing but it was obvious to us that most of the employees wanted to chit chat instead of work. Our waitress was great, though.
We always used to have a great experience at The Mason Grill but, unfortunately, we'll be spending our $25 with tip at another breakfast spot that appreciates...
Read moreThe food here was really good! We have had bad breakfast experiences in so many places, including IHOP and Bob Evan's. When waffle house was too busy, we looked this place up on the GPS and took a chance. I will say there's nothing amazingly different about it but it was good! The prices were fair, the servers were really moving, it was clean enough. I ordered a mudslide which is covered in gravy, I dont know why I did because sausage upsets my stomach, it was delicious though. I told the waitress about my mistake, my husband was eating it and I ordered something else. She didn't charge me for my error! I asked her to because it was my fault and he ate it but she wouldn't. The pancakes were better than IHOP, the eggs were cooked perfectly, not rubbery like IHOP and Frisch's or burned like Bob Evan's! The bacon was fresh, the toast was toasted. I mean they will probably never win and award for creativity of menu but they do what they do well! It was out of the way for us but I'd go back for sure if I was nearby around breakfast time! I do not understand the negative reviews about the staff either, they were busy, fast, and...
Read moreStopped by for lunch today used to be one of our spots when my wife and i were dating the food was horrible staff seemed like we we're a bothering them by being there. The fries are not handcut anymore they had wonderful fries. There's a sign greeting you at the door asking you to use cash due to credit card fees being expensive. That tells me alot right there they are cheap the quality went down hill trying to cut corners no towels in bathroom meat was low quality I got the comet burger and it was a greasy mess with a side of microwaved cheese fries even the mountain dew tasted like they needed to clean the machines. The ranch i asked for is homemade buttermilk ranch was spoiled probsly from leaving the frozen butter milk out too long would be my guess. I am a chef myself and I would never compromise quality with price. They need to put the effort they once had into it and reinvent make changes with staff and menu or they will be closed like so many other places. I will not be...
