Onion. It's fast and it's big, a big letdown. I really liked the first drop in the back. Not the best drop on my trip but pretty solid. There's a short speed hill after the far turnaround which delivers great strong floater for the entire train. But besides that it's nothing special. It's my first giga and I'm certain even the heavily criticized Millennium Force will be better than this. I dunno, just didn't work for me. It was fast, had some good force but lost basically all of its momentum by the end. The airtime was decent, but not for a Giga I feel. Maybe Cedar Fair forgot they had B&M build Fury 325 and just winged it or something but wow this layout is inferior. For a park like Kings Island I feel that they deserve something much more than what Orion was. When employees at the park keep bashing Orion for being a worse Diamondback, it really shows how disappointing it is for everyone. The riders' reactions as they pulled into the station for both Diamondback and Orion was starkly different. Diamondback had a good amount of people cheering and what not. Orion had maybe two people clapping, and never cheering. I rode it three times and not once did any of the riders...
Read moreVery well themed coaster, similar to the Paramount days, which is much appreciated. Ride itself is way too fast in terms of ride time. No doubt due to the high steel cost, making for a shorter track length in comparison to other “giga” coasters, but left me wishing for more. Something record breaking or new would have been welcomed. Not a bad coaster, but not great either. Still prefer Flight of Fear, the Beast, Banshee, and the now defunct Vortex over Orion. I miss the days when parks actually had intense thrill rides. No doubt due to liability they don’t make them to the same caliber today.
On a side note Cedar Fair should order 4 new Flight of Fear trains and use 3 at all times, not 2. The ride was designed for 4 trains at any given time. The new trains need a new seatbelt restraint system to improve hourly capacity, it’s now one of, or the lowest, capacity rides in the park, next to the highest capacity ride in the park. Not the best move. During a normal summer day at the park I could easily see a 3 hour wait now. Maybe they want that though to drive up...
Read moreThis is definitely in my top 3 favorites. The front 2 cars are the best if your an adrenaline junky, you hang over the almost straight down drop for what seems like forever, then your going 90 mph and hitting those zero gravity hills where your butt isn't touching the seat. You don't really get that in the back half. But no matter where your sitting its a very smooth ride, awesome view at the top, and It's not a slow, clanking, nerve wracking trip to the top like most coasters. Im used to being strapped in like I'm in a fighter jet, so the small pull down restraint made me a little nervous at first, but it really adds to the thrill. I like doing some kind of goofy pose for the camera, which is hard to do on Orion because of the curve where the camera is. They should put it at that first drop where everyone is having a mild...
