Hotel Continental Miami Beach, Tapestry Collection by Hilton — Attraction in Miami Beach

I’d like to begin by highlighting the positives: the front desk staff was truly wonderful—welcoming, helpful, and professional. The room itself was adequate, and the food served in the restaurant was excellent. However, I did experience a few issues that I feel should be brought to your attention.

First, the service at breakfast left much to be desired. On both mornings that I dined in, the breakfast staff appeared inattentive. Not once during either meal did a server check in to see if I needed anything. I had to flag someone down each time to request basics like water, butter, and even my check. On my first morning, I received a complimentary refill of coffee, (which is standard in most establishments), However, on the second morning, I was told that refills were not complimentary and that I would need to pay for another cup. That inconsistency was surprising and somewhat off-putting. Additionally, I waited 25 minutes after finishing my meal for the check. It wasn’t until I physically stood up to leave that someone approached me.

I’m not sure if this is due to new (or understaffed) personnel, but I do believe some customer service training for the dining staff—particularly during breakfast hours—would be beneficial.

My second concern relates to housekeeping. I was informed that rooms are serviced every other day, which I understood and accepted, as a lot of hotels now have the same policy . . My room was scheduled for service on Saturday, May 31st. When I returned from a walk that day, I noticed the trash had been emptied, but that was virtually the only thing done. The bed had not been made, the bathroom had not been cleaned, and no new bath mat or facecloths were provided—only one bath towel was replaced. I had placed used bath, face cloth and bathmat neatly on the floor, and I had also cleared the bed entirely to make it easy for the staff to service the room.

When I reported this to the front desk, the staff member was courteous and asked whether anything had been left on the bed that might have prevented housekeeping from making it. I explained that the bed had been completely cleared. He assured me he would pass my feedback along to management and quickly arranged for a new bath mat and facecloth to be brought to my room, which I appreciated.

Overall, while the rate for my stay was reasonable—especially given the location in Miami—however, I did expect a higher standard of service from the Hilton brand. I hope this feedback is helpful and leads to improvements in guest experience...

I recently stayed here for a business trip and the location is great for traveling into the city proper for work. That said, I read reviews before traveling and was prepared for the small rooms. As stated by others, the rooms are very small. Think European standards. I was in a corner room (room 508) and I would not suggest it just because the hallway looks right into the room, thus causing you to feel like you are living in a fishtank for a week. Since the room is small, it would be nice to open the curtains but the fishtank is then open to the world. That being said, I found the room spotless, well appointed, and very comfortable. The bed is great, ample workspace, good TV, and ample size bathroom. The housekeeping staff was wonderful! So attentive and friendly. The front desk is hit or miss. If you get lucky enough to encounter Nicole, you will be greeted in a friendly, professional manner and she will bend over backwards to help you with your needs. Some of the guys...quite grumpy as though you are bothering them. Breakfast is typical Hampton Inn fare. This Hampton doesn't do much to enhance it, but if you have to have a bite in the morning, you will survive. Fruit garnished water and coffee available throughout the day in the lobby is a blessing. Pool and gym areas are nice. As one reviewer said, somewhere to sit and people watch or eat your lunch outside would be fabulous. There is restaurant on-site but it's not run by the hotel so no sitting on their outdoor furniture and they are pretty weird about selling you a drink to take to the room. Parking is ridiculous. Mandatory valet at $45 a night but the crazy thing is that you walk half a block with your luggage (too bad if it rains) to get to the valet stand and every time you get your car out. They do not bring it to the hotel front. Waiting on the car is hot and there's no where to "hang out" for it such as a bench. You are just standing on the uncovered sidewalk. Location: there is a good Italian restaurant onsite and a Tavern (hamburgers, etc) about a block down. Next door is a convenience store that sells deli sandwiches. All of these are quite pricey but those are your options within walking distance. If you take a car, lots to choose from within several miles in all directions. Walk to the beach and boardwalk is an easy block from the hotel. For the price, if you only need one or two peeps in a room, I don't think you can...

What a great place! Surprised it is not listed as a 5 star hotel! Highly recommend...

Specifically the front desk staff ..they are amazing and the customer service is incredible. We arrived before noon after getting off a cruise ship. They let us leave our bags while we took the free trolley down the street and went to brunch. We came back and they were able to check us in early and we received a notification while at brunch that our room was ready. Don't quote me, but I think they said they had 100 rooms, and had 50 some people checked out and 40 something checked in (or vice versa) and that was before 3pm. We lived the bikes! The rule was for up to two hours and they give you a lock (and smart enough to tell you to take a picture of the lock code. ..not sure why I thought you would try to memorize it like it was 1996). We rode bikes on the path to the ocean. It started to get cloudy so we returned to the hotel. The room is on the smaller side, for a Hilton, but after leaving a cruise cabin it was like a spacious suite. There are two elevators, so if the front one is busy in the lobby just walk to the back up a few stairs and take the other elevator for a quick way to the upper floors. We had a view of the pool and the side street. We only stayed for the day and left about 6pm for the airport. There is a CVS next store+good for snacks and drinks at the beach. They had lemonade and water in the lobby. The hotel has a fun Vintage south beach style...I am sure there could be a little sprucing up but I loved everything about it. Lobby was a cool hangout. The restaurant in the lobby was also amazing. My husband is usually opposed to eating in the hotel but we needed convenient because of the bad weather outside and it would be worth going out of your way for. The breakfast area is under construction (not noticeable) so no food credit because they are just offering all the guests a continental breakfast...I was told that ..did not experience it personally, but I am sure the front desk will be able to clarify. Also a great value...less than half the price of the resorts on the ocean but across the street from the ocean front properties and worth the savings. I would book for a weekend or vacation without hesitation and hope to be able to return and...
