Let me start off by saying please be warned DO NOT stay here even if the rates are good and you have no choice! Pay the extra $50-$100 per night and stay elsewhere you will thank me later. Moving on
Horrible place, smells extremely strong of cheap chemical fragrance as you walk in, so strong so they can mask the mildew and mold smell. Many hotels in Miami have this humid musty mildew smell due to the hi humidity levels so they try and mask it.
Front desk check in was fine but when I got to my rooms oh boy, I had to move rooms not once, not twice, but 3 times because every room they stuck me in had issues. Broken shower rods, broken tv or balcony doors would not open or close properly, stained sheets, mold on base of lights, the list and room even smelled like dirty wet clothes and sewer in another till finally they got me into a room that was nice. Took 3 swaps and I was good! If it’s run of house room you more than likely will get one of their old bad rooms. After moving rooms 3 times put in the basket right now the basket right here. Thank you so much. Oh wow I’m sorry to hear that babe. I’m sorry to hear that. I’ll talk to you soon babe thank you. Hi yes are they’re busy with people in the thing yeah so that’s fine. Just go ahead and just delete all of that and then go ahead and add all that extra stuff that would be fine and then we moved rooms and was are up by bed bugs. At first we had no idea but they were little flea like bugs brown that didn’t jump see photos
🚨Credit Card Fraudsters 🚨
Now onto the big issue! Be careful because they take a photo copy of your drivers license and copy of the credit card and when I checked out I paid cash. I never use my business card to pay for the room because I don’t need to it’s only to secure my room, they charged the card on file after leaving and on top of that 2 weeks later my senior advisor at Bank Of America calls me and tells me they froze my card because they see I’m in another city atm and someone in Miami is trying to order their Christmas groceries from a local Publix grocery store via online order and also get some last minute Amazon gifts via manually entering the card number and using my ID for the billing address. Little did they know I don’t use my ID address for billing address which automatically declined all their order attempts. Next day investigators called me asking me if I was in Miami in December and I said yes for Art Basel Weekend, and I only used my card for the Best Western Hotel and that’s all and they tell me that the ip address shows that’s someone from that Best Western attempted to use the card while connected to the internet there. What dummies. Obviously no one will know which employee stole my personal information but when I confronted the front desk manager she was very rude and she was defensive and asked me “why are you calling me?” You need to have the police call us not you!!! Like excuse me girlfriend! Did you think as a customer who already had a bad experience with the hotel was not going to reach out to tell you to watch your employees more carefully or perhaps to stop photo copying our personal information and letting everyone have access to it she just wasn’t having it and hung up on me. They charged my card multiple times at the hotel and there is still a charge for over $1000 they charged when it’s clear I paid cash after checking out.
Run far from this hotel 🏨 only this BW has been an issue none of the other ones were a problem and just because i wanted to stay...
Read moreDo yourself a favor and DO NOT BOOK WITH BEST WESTERN PLUS! Book the Radisson Resort Miami Beach instead! Trust me, I didn’t, and I highly regret it. This hotel does not honor prepaid reservations and will cancel and rebook your room to another guest at a higher price! (And they will not notify you of said cancellation beforehand)
I booked the best room at the Best Western Plus (the Oceanfront view with 1 King Bed) as a treat since I was celebrating my 30th birthday. I booked it through Priceline way back in May and paid IN FULL: $713.88 for 4 nights. Come August 29 after a long day of travel, my husband and I finally arrive at night to check-in, only to be told that my reservation had been cancelled on August 17. Neither Priceline nor I cancelled the booking, and Priceline confirmed on the phone that my reservation was still 100% active.
Despite showing the front desk proof of the still valid reservation, the staff member flat-out refused to honor it for no good reason. They couldn’t (or wouldn’t) tell me who supposedly “cancelled it” and instead kept giving vague, roundabout answers. I have never had an issue with Priceline, and the front desk staff was very cryptic about what had actually happened to our reservation on their end, it quickly became obvious to me that the hotel had double booked our room (being that there were no Oceanfront View suites available), made the choice to cancel our reservation and gave it away to the person willing to pay a higher last-minute rate. This would be considered a deceptive/unfair trade practice under Florida’s consumer protection laws.
Because the hotel refused to fulfill the original reservation, Priceline had no choice but to cancel and refund me. This left my husband and I scrambling at night to rebook a room through Best Western directly. Instead of my original Oceanfront View suite with 1 King Bed which I initially paid $713.88 for, we were downgraded to the Partial Oceanview room, which was smaller, less comfortable with 2 twin beds (NOTE: We're a couple and we barely fit in one bed). To add insult to injury, I ended up paying MORE at: $786.05, DESPITE the downgrade AND loss of the view. To make matters worse, there was absolutely no attempt or offer of compensation, not even a simple breakfast voucher, and the staff continued to dodge responsibility. The front desk staff member at night had a very off-putting: "Oh well, it is what it is" demeanor.
We asked to speak to a manager, and that was a whole other issue. Both front desk staff at night and day continuously lied about when the manager would be in. Whenever we showed up at the exact time they told us, the manager was not there and the front desk staff would change the time to “They’ll be here an hour later.” They toyed with this like this for at least 3 or 4 times and in the end, we never got to speak with a manager. Very dishonest and unprofessional staff. It made what was supposed to be a nice start to a birthday trip, extremely stressful instead.
My advice to those traveling? Unless you want to show up to a unexplained cancelled hotel reservation and no one taking accountability, do not book with this hotel! We gave them several chances to make things right during our stay, but since nothing was done and we were toyed with, I will most definitely be filling a consumer complaint with Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as this constitutes a clear breach of contract and a deceptive business...
Read moreOur first 15 minutes of arriving at the hotel was 5 stars, Diana made our 'pre-check' easy and she was so very nice and friendly. (This would be the one and only time we had great service from any of the hotel staff). She quickly got the paperwork out of the way, provided us with beach bracelets for our whole group (booked 2 rooms with 4 adults per room..this is important at the beach) and a bathroom/beach key so we could enjoy the beach just steps away while we await our rooms.
We all quickly change into our beach gear, store our luggage complimentary in a secure office and make our way to the beach excited for an afternoonrelaxing on the beach. After finding our beach chairs and relocating so we can be closer and together (group of 8), we are rudely met by a contracted staffer representing the hotel who was so very rude to all us demanding our room number over and over. We continued to advise that we haven't been assigned one yet by the hotel and that we have the bracelets for beach access and a key card provided by the hotel front desk. This gentleman continued to harass our group (and many others as we witnessed) demanding our room numbers and then telling us it's only 2 chairs and 1 umbrella allowed. We tried to explain we have 2 rooms with 4 confirmed adults on our reservation per room with the provided beach bracelets, and that we were not told of this rule by the hotel staff. He argued with us (the guests) that their contract with the hotel pays them a percentage per room...I explained that is a contract issue that is to be taken up with their hotel..not the guests. He demanded we pay him $20 per chair over the 2 and $10 for the umbrellas. We quickly packed our belongings and never once returned to the beach afterwards ..which is the whole reason we booked this hotel. We then spent the rest of the afternoon (2+hours) sitting in the lobby until our rooms were ready.
Once our rooms were ready, we arrived to our "paid upgraded ocean view" rooms to 1 room barely overlooking the ocean and the other nowhere near an ocean view as we were only 1 room away from the elevator (oh the one working elevator) on the Avenue with a sliver view of the ocean. The rooms....bring earplugs!!! The walls of the room are paper thin and we could clear as day hear each conversation of the opposing rooms..both sides of which were drunken shouting/yelling. Needless to say, we got little to no sleep. The beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable, pillows are small and lumpy and the bathroom is very small.
There is only 1 working elevator, of which has an expired safety certificate of over a year, and made it challenging as the entire hotel (guests and all luggage) is reliant on one single elevator and was always 100% full. Our group waited nearly 20 minutes to get from floor 7 to the lobby upon our departure.
The hotel is dated and while I can appreciate the scents they pump in which smell wonderful..it's also a bit much for those with allergies or asthma. The bar onsite is non-existent..closed years ago it seems and the restaurant is on limited hours and pricey in comparison to local restaurants in nearby hotels. (The Tavern was outstanding and highly recommend!)
For $400 per room/ per night, and paying for 2 rooms both with a supposed paid upgrade to an ocean view...I would absolutely never stay again from...
