I give them 3 stars instead of 2 because I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. Meat is great at this place. Prices are really good as well. The problem comes with the folks behind the meat counter. DO NOT expect to ask them for more than a couple items without them being irritated. I would say most seem generally unfriendly and not happy to be at work in the first place. However, I walked in the other day and asked for "5 lbs. of ground chuck in 1 lb. bags". I get an annoyed look, and an attitude from the guy stating that I should have called ahead. That has happened each time I came in to get meat. I'll be honest, I stop in every few weeks and purchase roughly $200-$250 worth of meat. No, I do not call ahead. Yes, I spend more when I am there because as they are preparing my other meat, I see other things I want. And It is not like I pressure them to get the meat ready by a deadline. My thing is, yes I may request many items - but if that person is not helping me, they will be preparing meat for someone else. It should not matter rather they spend 15 mins helping me, or 15 mins helping 4 different people. They are very well staffed and nobody is kept waiting in line. Long story short, for coming in and supporting their business and spending a couple hundred dollars each time, they sure are rude. Again, great quality and prices, but Lalondes Market down the road has at least as good of quality with very friendly staff - albeit...
Read moreQuick and convenient option on this side of town if you don't want to go into a large store (like Kroger), but still want quality product. Some things here are only sold at Jack's. Their chicken salad (I prefer the sweet option) is very tasty and I like to pick it up with French bread for an easy take along for pot lucks, etc. They have so many products (desserts, dips, cheeses, meats, salads, & more) that are Jack's originals. They sell the glass "jugs" of milk here- multiple flavors (glass deposit is highly likely, though I've never bought at this location). I just think that is a cool option they have. You'd have to go in to see. I have no clue if prices are the best for basic shopping in comparison to big retail grocery stores, but Jack's is a great option for FRESH and GOOD produce and meat. Hence the name! Worth the stop if you haven't shopped! Glad there is one in Bay...
Read moreI really tried to like this place, jacks as a whole, but every time I go there, it’s always something negative. I bought chicken leg quarters, threw in the fridge , went to freeze it the next day, and it was spoiled. Bought the chorizo another time, mostly fat, and again, tasted borderline spoiled, had an old dingy taste to it. Threw it out. Went to this specific location last night and bought two pounds of the DOUBLE SMOKED jacks own bacon, bagged it up to freeze today and literally zero smoke smell to it. Zero. I’ve smoked everything from my own bacon to cream cheese so I can obviously tell. The fact that they market it as double smoked is crazy, and I bet ppl believe it. Just straight brainwashed people that don’t know any better. Just go to lalondes and you’ll be happier, I should’ve...
