I was tattooed by David several years ago and I came to him with a vague idea for a Lacey foot tattoo. At the time I had no knowledge who owned the shop but I was happy to recognize him from Body Language and he had a vague recollection of me. He had to book me several days out, which was absolutely okay.
The day I came he had prepared my sketch which he practically greeted me with the second I walked in the door for my appointment. I instantly fell in love with it.
During the process, he asked me questions about my hobbies including tarantula keeping, and he worked very fast on my foot so it was great since that is such a sensitive area. I told him my mother was into coloring mandalas and Paisley designs which he asked if there was a way for him to have, and she gladly emailed them to him.
My only regret is I didn't tip him, mostly because I'm an idiot and for whatever reason didn't realize was customary even though it's really common sense.
My last tattoo came from another shop that I won't name on high Street whose owner was extremely hostile to me. Now I'm stuck with a tattoo I have a negative association with but I plan on one day returning to American crow to have it fixed, even if I have to book David...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAustin Yancey is a con artist. Waiting 3 months (he did offer many chances to come in early) and I showed up to a locked door. 30 mins later when he finally shows up he says sorry I accidentally didn't do your design at all. He says to come back tomorrow and he normally only does 1 a day but he can try to squeeze me in.
I came back the next day and after a long discussion about how the design did not match the request I shifted my plan and said let me just get some flash from you because we aren't getting anywhere.
He showed me a few designs and I asked for a minor change (only remove no addition or change) and my request was denied. He offered to do a similar design to what I wanted in the flash but when he showed me what he came up with that was also VERY FAR off.
I have worked with many other artists and shops around Columbus and this was by far my worst experience asking for custom work or flash. He is the first tattoo artist I met with a personal assistant and still the worst customer service and his profile is excellent but he only posts 1 or 2 a month so be warned before giving him...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn terms of quality of tattoo, good. However, hospitality and service at a 0, and that's being nice. Most of the tattoo artists are not very friendly (expect for the two female ones who are very cooperative). To add, last time I got a tattoo here, I could literally hear my artist, who was Sam, making comments and jokes about my tattoo with another fellow artist at American Crow. Which was when he was preparing his station for me. Which is very unprofessional, and could've at least had the common courtesy to talk about it after I had left. Despite whether you like what the actual tattoo is about, I'm giving you money to put permanent ink in my skin, and I would appreciate it if you could at least show me some respect for it, while I'm in there. Not to mention I was charged $150/hr for it. So unless you want to have your artist to laugh about what tattoo you're getting because they don't have the same ideas as you, I wouldn't advise going here. There are tons of other great shops in Columbus that are far more worth your...
