The gateway dog park is a clean, convenient, and friendly dog park. My dog and I are here almost every day. If you live in the Elliot Park side of downtown, it is the most accessible dog park. During peak times, there can be upwards of 8+ dogs/owners! Other times you will usually find this park empty. Be sure to bring water for your dog! Due to city coding, the concrete water bowls have no central water source and are often filled with dirty rainwater.
This park is a wide-open gravel park with some foliage but no shade and a few benches. Once the sun sets, this park is very dark, with little lighting other than streetlights. You will also find that most of the other owners and dogs are friendly and well trained, but not everyone! Overall it's a great little spot to bring your dog for some exercise and variety...
Read moreA small but cute dog park that doesn’t look like it is used much. It is fairly clean with plenty of seating for the humans. The ground cover is a fine crushed stone material which seemed safe for dog paws. The one concern I had was the concrete fixture on the ground that resembles a row of bowls and is perhaps meant to be used as a water drinking area for dogs? Dirty water and debris have accumulated and unless someone cleans it out those materials just sit there and create a health hazard if the dogs try and drink the water when the owners aren’t looking. Overall I’d say there is plenty of space for dogs to get a good enough run especially if you live in the apartments and this is your only fenced in option for your pets to frolic. I was there around 8pm and the neighborhood seemed safe enough to walk around...
Read moreSmall park that is pretty barebones - a good spot for your dog to get a bit of exercise on a lunch break or in a pinch. Make sure to bring your own water as there is none nearby. Not much shade, and few chairs. We prefer going to the Loring dog park that is not too far away, but this one does just fine when we need something closer. HOWEVER - this is a fully volunteer run dog park - so people should not be too hard on it! We all need to help keep it clean and nice. The reviewer who said the park deleted their review - there isn't a business or specific person in charge of this park, and I highly doubt they are spending their time deleting reviews. Please go easy on the volunteers who made this park in the first place! Myself and others pick up dog waste while we are there, and there are annual clean ups...
