Had jaded expectations due to other non-profits or county services I experienced from first hand and from the point of assisting a family member years prior when I was a contributing member of society. I only went to St. Olaf to get a replacement community (technically illegal!) identification card. Catholic charities Branch 3 location at 740 East 17 Minneapolis MN 55404 the card machine was out of order has been for a significant time . The results is a less secure and safer opportunity center ( Branch 3)by not having to scan cards to enter if you have lost your card . The front desk area looked messy and disarray with criminally inappropriate or boarder line behavior spreading like a gangrenous infection festering and migrating to encompass the whole limb or building. My unscheduled visit was like a welcome relief from the uncomfortable yet familiar daily itinerary I do every day to keep my addiction fed it has become it's own not so fine tuned semi-controlled chaos that has made my image of the quinisinsal scary substance user superimposed in the mind of almost all Minneapolites the who work, shop , eat, visit doctors, dentist ride the bus 18 line lately since I have taken up residents in a shelter off Nicolette and 33rd .For someone that does not want to stand out but does anyway glare that the ones that have experienced the first eye contact of a nano second before they turn there head I appalled contempt but just can't keep them selfs to look again of the walking death . I have absolutely no denial of how my sad shocking complexion with it's deep crevices and rotten tooth mostly all gone but a few stubs of black cavity the pain to eat and the years of no dental care . I had a dental appointment a few days ago also a internal medicine Dr appointment, and a hearing specialist on the 23rd oral surgeon the 23rd too . Oh hearing guy again 23rd see folks I have no showed of cancelled so many Dr visits that when I do show up the hospital goes into lock down sort of receptionist starts letting other services that I needed like so long before know that "He Showed up !" Within 15 mins of arrival a nurse will come in and hand me my literary 830 am internal medicine 945 audiology 11 am mental health with nurse practitioner, they will even get me lunch assign a person to shadow me to all appointments but this time I brought my own person Joel is a nurse that has many different job I met him at higher ground the clinic there is part of the Health care for the homeless sad fact is most have no clue it's there don't care to be frank the clinic people are great as long as it has nothing to do with touching or close contact with the homeless dregs the untouchable of America so take that India and your official caste system of inclusion. Read moreI do not think I possess the vocabulary to be able to express completely both my frustration and my disappointment with the individuals that were at St Olaf's. I'm not from Minnesota and I was there on just a short little weekend trip that I spontaneously took by myself. I parked on the lowest level of a parking garage that was directly across from St Olaf's. As I was walking through town the battery in my vehicle decided that it was going to slowly drain itself until when I finally return to it my car wouldn't start. It was relatively early in the morning but there I was stuck with a vehicle that wouldn't start. I looked across the street and I saw St Olaf's and I saw people pulling in there to work. And these vehicles were very nice that were pulling in there I saw many Audi BMW Cadillacs etc and I thought well surely one of them would be willing to help a fellow midwesterner start his vehicle. Boy was I wrong not only didn't any of them help but several of the employees in order to avoid me either stayed in their cars until I walked away one woman drove around the parking lot continuously until she could sneak into the door without having to be asked by me. When I went inside not a single person greeted me asked me how I was doing what I was doing or even made eye contact with me. Now I should say because this is of very minor importance but I was dressed well I think I look relatively well put together and my vehicle is a BMW so you know I'm not doing too bad but you would think by the reactions and the attitudes of these people that I was offering them a free course of bubonic plague. When I finally was able to speak to somebody there not only did this person the quote unquote security guy not offer to help but also he didn't tell me who I could call or offer me any sort of assistance whatsoever other than to make it very clear that I would receive no assistance from him. That had to be the most unfriendly if not openly hostile place I have ever had the misfortune of having a battery die across from. To say that they are a Christian church and exemplify the Christian ideal is laughable if not a mockery of everything that they supposedly stand for and what a good decent human being should do when a fellow human...
Read moreThey have a very well done facility, nice events and announcements concerning events, but a lot of the priests (except for Father Kennedy) keep rambling on about a bunch of random stuff that doesn't teach me anything about the scriptures they've read, like their life stories, and they don't even bother connecting said life stories very well to the scriptures they've read. On top of that, the whole mass lasts around an hour (I've been to a much more substantial and worthwhile online mass lasting only 25-30 minutes total), all in return for no effective results coming out of it maybe except some good prayer. Father Wehmann was also taking his sweet time waiting in between moments of silence longer than practically necessary and talking too long and passionately about irrelevant subjects just before concluding mass, like football season, both wasting my family's time and making us cringe at the way he ran mass (like could you please save that for when mass has actually ended and after you've walked out of the "mass room" , or whatever they call that room anyways??) So that's my long, brutally honest spheal about the positives and negatives about St. Olaf; the facility is good, but the priests, well, not so much, except for Father Kennedy, who unfortunately had to retire. (Hey, at least I went to his retirement party;...
