Update to this: Greg, the hotel GM called me to apologize and offered IHG points for our troubles. I am happy with the way Greg handled this situation and I hope everyone has more than enough TP in their rooms moving forward š
Iām giving this hotel one star, and the only reasons it's not zero are the convenient location and the kind housekeeper who helped me navigate a luggage cart around a crowded hallway. Unfortunately, those were the only positives in an otherwise very disappointing stay.
We were told weād be able to check in early at noon, so we structured our entire day around that. When we arrived, however, we were abruptly informed that early check-in wasnāt possible and that weād need to come back at the standard 3 p.m. time. The most frustrating part? The same front desk staff who made the promise was now being rude and dismissive about it, offering no apology or explanation. If early check-in wasnāt available, fineābut donāt tell guests it is and then act like itās their fault for believing you.
The room itself was clean and had a decent view, but that's where the positives end. We had to call down for extra towels, as there werenāt enough for our group. The TV remote didnāt work. The complimentary soap had a very unpleasant smell, so Iād recommend bringing your own toiletries. Minor inconveniences, sureābut things that add up.
What really pushed this experience into ānever againā territory was the issue with toilet paper. Our room had one partially used roll and no backups. I discovered this around 4 a.m. and went down to the front desk, assuming they could simply hand me a roll. Instead, I was met with a baffled stare, as if I had asked him to give me his car keys or something. The man told me someone would bring it to our room. I politely requested that they just leave it outside the room and not knock on the door as not to wake my friends. Again, I was treated like I had asked him something crazy. I donāt think itās unreasonable to not want to wake up my friends at 4 a.m.. He said the toilet paper would be up in 15 minutes. I waited 15 minutes. Then 20. Then 30. Nothing. I gave up and went back to bed, expecting it to be there in the morning. It wasnāt.
When my friend went down 2 hours later to request toilet paper again, the staff was once again rudeāand even blamed me for the mix-up. Over toilet paper. One thin, single-ply roll. It was honestly absurd. I felt like I was being punked or something.
Iāve received far better service at roadside motels in the middle of nowhere. Iām generally very laid-back and rarely write reviews, but this experience crossed the line. Being misled by staff, treated with open hostility, and made to feel like a burden for asking for something as basic as toilet paper is unacceptableāespecially at a hotel that claims to offer a higher standard of service.
They say people in Minnesota are known for being āMinnesota Nice,ā but there was nothing nice, helpful, or hospitable about the staff here. I would not recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friends and I stayed at the Hotel Indigo for one night and it was truly one of the worst experiences I have had at a 4-star hotel.
When we first arrived, we asked for an early check in around 11 am, they said the room would be ready in about an hour which was totally ok. When we came back in a little over an hour, the front desk manager had no idea what he initially told us and very condescendingly pointed out that check-in was not until 3 pm. We had a baseball game to attend so we had to opt to get fully ready in the lobby restroom and lug our bags back to our car. Donāt say our rooms will be ready if they wonāt be ready - we were happy to wait until 3 pm if it wasnāt possible.
The worst part: no toilet paper in our room. When we arrived, we only had about a quarter of a roll left with no spare rolls in the room. When we ran out in the middle of the night, we went down to the front desk at 4 am to ask for more, kindly asking that they do not knock and to leave it outside the door to not wake up the others sleeping. The front desk man said it would be there in 10-15 minutes. 2 hours later and nothing was delivered. We had to go back to the lobby AGAIN at 6 am to beg for toilet paper. BEG FOR TOILET PAPER!? Something most people would consider bare minimum service. The front desk man was rude, saying that we asked for housekeeping to leave it outside and to not knock and someone else must have taken it. At 6 am?! I find that hard to believe unless it was some other poor soul on our floor who also didnāt have toilet paper. I had to explain with frustration that we need toilet paper NOW. And the front desk man rolled his eyes and said āwell I guess I will have go find someā and reacted as though I was a diva making a ridiculous request. After a minute or two he came back flustered and annoyed and gave me my rolls. All of this hoopla for single ply Angel Soft.
The rudeness of the staff was off the charts and I actually canāt believe how we were treated as guests with very simple requests. You made us feel like burdens in your hotel and we never return and will never recommend this hotel to any friends in the future. The only positive was the fact that the room was clean and the view was good. We also had a kind man who worked in housekeeping or something of that nature who helped us get our luggage cart in the room. The same man brought extra towels up so fast and we were so thankful to finally interact with a positive employee of this rain cloud of a hotel!
At the end of the day, when I book a stay at a so-called 4-star hotel, I expect a few basics: a working TV remote, soap that feels luxurious, and staff who are warm, attentive, and professional. Instead, we were met with dishonesty from rude front desk staff and had to repeatedly ask, almost beg, for essentials that shouldāve been standard. To top it off, the soap left us smelling more like a hospital...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked this hotel with family to attend a local concert in the area. Between us and our family, we booked about 7 rooms for two days. Upon arrival, it was easy to find the parking ramp and seamless experience parking and finding the hotel lobby via elevator. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and welcoming upon check-in. The first room we received was on floor 13. We went up the elevator and entered the room. When trying to lock the door, the bolt unfortunately did not latch. We tried again and again but it was just not built correctly. We went back downstairs and asked for a new room as we felt safer being able to fully lock the door. The front desk told us that because the hotel is newer, they have been finding that some of the other rooms were not locking correctly either and that some of the door locks were built incorrectly. He proceeded to offer us 'upgrades' for rooms to either a city view or corner city room with more space. We later found out everyone was offered these 'upgrade rates' so there really wasn't anything special about it and honestly, we already overpaid at the original time of booking so we opted for another standard room on floor 13. The room we had was nice: room was clean, bathroom was clean, shower appeared to be clean. There was a muggy type smell in the room but after blasting the AC, we could overlook the smell. We also liked that the room didn't have a connecting door for the room next door (one of our family members in a different room had people in the room next to them trying to open the connecting door!). What we didn't realize until night 2 was that the window had actually been left slightly open (neither my husband or I had touched it) and there was a TON of little white bugs flying around the window. My husband shut the window and had to smash most of them to get rid of them. Then we had a pretty major incident on Friday late night. After returning from the concert, we got stuck in the elevator. We didn't realize at the time but admittedly, we acknowledged after the fact that there were too many of us that went in at the same time. Once the elevator closed, it tried to go up, stalled, then stopped completely. We were stuck for maybe 30 minutes until the firefighters got us out. We realize that this was indeed our fault, however there really was no care or sympathy shown by the new staff who had stepped in for that night shift. When we got out, they didn't say anything to us and seemed more annoyed than anything. The firefighters had to shut off the elevator and restart them, so for a short time there was no way to get upstairs. Although I did try to walk up the stairs (per firefighter recommendation to get up), I only got so far because you eventually get to a door that is locked (hotel staff had to unlock for you).
Overall we likely won't stay here again and will explore other hotels in the...
