The redevelopment of this whole area is really coming along nicely. There are some that say all the new apartments/condos are detracting from the view of the river and city skyline (this is Mishawaka, don't forget) while others like myself are grateful that the area seems fresh, new, exciting.... when Uniroyal occupied that space, that area was a scary part of town, day or night. As soon as some tenants move in and the shops begin opening, maybe the locals will get off the social media and actually become social. Walk the dog, feed the ducks, listen to the water, grab a doughnut then jog it off. UPDATE: many new businesses, mostly restaurants, have moved into various units in the Ironworks building. Also, there's an ice park with skating and ice bumper cars. There's so much more...

Well the Riverwalk has ALL of these things and great views to boot. The paths are completely detached from the local roadways, so you can feel comfortable knowing that these paths are safe from traffic.
If I was to give them a score for later at night on how well they are lit, I would give it a 7/10. There are some dark spots and if you are concerned with safety, then there might be a few areas you might not go to.
The local parks department does an excellent job of keeping the paths clean of goose dropping and other trash.

Read moreI haven't spent much time downtown Mishawaka for a lot of years. Recently walked a section of the Riverwalk and wow, what a great place! Clean, quiet, great views, and it looks like there is a lot more cool stuff in the works. It's definitely a great place to walk, ride, run, exercise a dog, etc. One star knocked off because the drinking fountains weren't working in 75 degree weather and they didn't look like they'd been working for quite a while.
