Highly recommending you to do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. I have never left a negative review somewhere before but I just left Ducky’s tonight confused, frustrated, and disappointed. We have a wedding in August and were looking to rent suits/tuxes for 13 people and had been in twice to try on options already. The two people that helped us the two times we had been in were fantastic and were very helpful and patient with all the help we needed this review is not a reflection of them. When we went in today to try on another option we were told we were not allowed to try on anymore suits as we had “already tried on everything” according to their manager. Which would be true if they only offered 4 suits. We thought they were messing with us at first but then explained they were serious so we left. When we called, his explanation was that we had already tried on enough, were taking up too much of his time, and that “normal people know what they want to rent”. We meant no disrespect by trying on multiple options and thanked and apologized often to the gentleman that was so helpful in resizing jackets that were too small/larage. We have been torn on what style and colors to go with for our wedding so we tried on 3 suits the first time we were there but didn’t select anything because we weren’t sold on what we tried on. We brought our parents with the second time where we tried on two of those suits again to get their feedback and two other options they liked in the store. My parents and I even offered to help put back the suits on their hangars that we tried on as we knew they were closing soon and did not want to be an inconvenience. We went back in today to book our suits and asked to try on one last option my parents suggested after looking at their online options. When we asked the girl she said she’d love to let us try on another suit but couldn’t risk upsetting her manager who said we were not allowed to try on anymore suits which seems like a scummy way to do business at a place where you go to try on suits… the manager explained he has a mental policy of three suits max to try on which he said is not written down anywhere. I can’t imagine how brides must feel trying to rent dresses there when people are only permitted to try on 3. Not once did he even say anything to us in person, just left a note on our file saying we weren’t to be allowed to try any suits on again. We did not mean to be an inconvenience to his employees who were great to work with despite being managed by him. He said we had taken up too much of their time and that a normal couple knows what they want when they get there while all he did was stand there and talk to his coworkers the first time we were there and stand there and stare at us angrily the second time. I am deeply sorry for troubling him with my business while he was so busy “working” I know being asked to do your job can be frustrating at times. My groomsmen, ushers, and family are gradually sharing their reviews as well as this experience also impacts them as I’m sure many more will continue to do to help spread awareness to prevent you from making the same mistake we almost made. Ironically the manager seems to be having his family and coworkers write 5 star reviews all minutes after ours to offset the truth. We will take our business elsewhere and recommend you do the same until they can find a more professional...
Read moreI would like to say that all the associates that I came in contact with were friendly and polite. However, there was a definitive lack of competence and management in regards to my entire experience with Ducky's Formal Wear in Moline, IL. To save time I'll just use bullet points... -Tux was "just discontinued" by manufacturer. Was not told until 2 months after the initial fitting when I arrived for an appt to order invitations. The date of the suit discontinuation was dated month before my invitation appt on the order form. -Found the "discontinued" suit at Men's Warehouse. Turns out, I can order a brand spanking new one anytime or rent whatever size I need. I love it when I'm lied to. Especially about my wedding. Said no woman ever. Was told at initial fitting that I would be allowed to order same invitation but with different wording for a separate ceremony and reception invite. When arrived at my appt. was told no and that it would be an additional $96 to have smaller insert cards printed. That was the least expensive option. -Invitations arrived with the incorrect web address. Was given & charged for incorrect invitations even after verifying proofs 3 times ($10 charge each time) Error was caught when I was looking at them in car before leaving Ducky's parking lot. -Called and asked to speak with a manager. Told there is no manager. I asked to speak with whoever the supervisor was. Told that it was the owner and he was not available. I asked when he would be and was told he comes in whenever he feels like it and she could leave him a note. Called twice. Left messages twice. He returned my phone call 7 days later. Left a quick message and didn't answer my return call 3 minutes later or return the message from that call either. No where to be found when I went in later that day to pick up my corrected invitations. Was misinformed or not informed at all of several policies that involved extra charges and holding deposits.
Literally, every time I stepped foot in that store there was something messed up. The associate even made a joke about how it's lucky that I'm planning so far ahead. Wasn't amused. I ended up canceling all 10 of the tuxes and paying almost $500 for my "free invitations" so that I could get out of any contracts and not have to deal with them any longer. The associates that I dealt with directly were all very nice and polite. Perhaps the universe was conspiring against me and just made crappy things happen every time I walked through the door. They might be a "premiere" tux shop for proms and teenagers but I would not trust them to have the level of maturity, supervision or competence to follow through with their portion of responsibility when it comes to a wedding party. I have worked retail in the past and I still deal with client based services everyday and I understand when things happen but to ignore or blow off a customer in that way was the final straw for this bride. I hate writing bad reviews but I think that someone's wedding requires attention to detail and follow through and that is not what I found from the staff and especially the owner of Ducky's...
Read moreI stood in the store trying to pickup a dress for my sister. Her dress has been paid for and fitted and was simply picking it up. I told this to the manager directly on the tuxedo as there was no one on the dress side. I was made to wait half an hour behind a line of new customers on the tuxedo side who are getting fitted for suits. Then she had tried to charge me $80 for the remaining balance which they tried to do prior to this to my sister. I said that to the manager and that I would not be paying this. She said oh let me check the computer. This is one of the reasons our suits are from men’s wear house. Good quality stuff here but bad business management for organizing customers based on needs and...
