Great staff, great location, super fun time!
My partner and I were in Yellowstone last week for vacation and decided on the half-day, 8-mile adventure option with Montana Whitewater- Yellowstone at the Gardiner location. This experience was awesome! I’d never been whitewater rafting before this, and admittedly I was nervous though excited going in. The adventure started off at their very cool office location and consisted of an easy check-in, great views overlooking the river, and smooth gear up, clothing change. The transition to the bus was easy and the drive to the river spot was very quick. The safety brief was led by Josie at the river entrance. Josie is a phenomenal leader and was very clear in her instructions, gave visual demonstrations alongside, and ensured we were all clear on our expectations and safety while in the river. 12/10 Josie! Walking the boat in the last ~20 feet at the river entrance was a little nerve-racking as we did have to carry the boat over some riverbed rocks to get into the water. No falls or slips happened- yay! It was the hardest part of the experience though. There were three guides for our trip: Josie, Emily, and Jordan. Our boat was led by Jordan, and he was very cool. Jordan guided us well through the rapids and answered my many questions as a first time rafter. Emily was in the boat in front of us and let me give a shout out to her, she was working so hard on the river and really carried her boat. Way to go Emily! Josie, we heard cheers from your boat, as well as Emily's, sounded like everyone had a great time; great job to you too. We all got to see some wildlife including a bald eagle and Mergansers, and we heard and saw history along the river too. The rapids are exciting and so much fun! I got splashed plenty of times and loved it so wear swimsuit underneath your clothes or their complimentary wetsuits. All in all, I would do this same experience again. I had an outstanding first time whitewater rafting on this river with a great boat and lovely guides! This experience is great for friend groups, birthday parties, families, special occasions- like bachelorette/ milestone parties, and in general, team bonding. Thank you to the entire staff for a great experience, fun time, and awesome photos. Thank you and shout also to...
Read moreMy two teens and I did a morning river rafting tour down the Yellowstone river with MWW and I gotta tell ya folks, they are great!! A very fun, safe, thorough group of guides make the experience enjoyable. They have all the equipment you could possibly need, but if you have a pair of Teva-like sandals, definitely bring those. You can also use the disinfected river boots they have as well. They are legit disinfected after every use, I put mine in a large barrel of disinfectant after I took them off. Helmets are mandatory, but if you are a cap wearer, they fit nicely over your hat so you can have a little shade on your face. Sunglasses with a strap would be best if you wear them. You will place belongings (clothes you won’t be wearing, car keys, etc) in a basket near the gear storage. It’s not locked, so arrange to leave valuables in the car or hotel. I brought my cellphone along in a waterproof case and attached the lanyard to my life jacket. Don’t put anything around your neck. If you have a chance to sign waivers online before you arrive, your pre-rafting process will be easier, but you can sign one when you get there, too so no worries either way. Their location is walking distance from several lodging options on Scott Street, but parking along the street is also available (at least in the morning time). Our River guide was Giselle and she was awesome! She’s a genuine lover of the outdoors, is from Montana, and will ensure a great ride down the river!...
Read moreWe really enjoyed this rafting trip. We did a half day 8 mile trip with 2 adults, 2 teens and a 9 year old for $371. It was a cold, overcast day but I can say the gear they gave us wetsuits, fleece and a splash jacket on top kept us all comfortable in 50 degree weather. They had changing rooms to swap out your clothes into your swimsuits and then you just leave you clothes in a basket in the store till you return. They also have GoPro mounts in some helmets which is nice. Maybe all add a link once I get to making a video. The rafting was great. I think there was one class 3 rapid but very family friendly I thought, no obstacles like boulders to navigate. Overall pretty chill with mild rapids great for first time rafters. The guides were great very friendly and informative. The pictures they took were great. It was about $50 extra at the end but worth it they were great pictures and you really can't easily take pictures on your own. There was a cheaper picture option too if you just wanted a couple. The only item I think could use improvement is the travel arrangements. The van they used was hard to find seat belts and the guides actually had to double up in a seat without belts. While traveling to the launch and pickup are short drives, I'd still prefer my family all be belted for safety. And last, when you are done there are plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops in the town to cap...
