The Yellowstone Grill is conveniently located on the main street leading into Gardiner, Montana coming from the north.
When I walked in, the smell of coffee and cinnamon welcomed me. Inside, the atmosphere is open and airy with plenty of natural light filtering through the windows.
I planned to keep breakfast simple however, there was a pan of fresh, warm cinnamon rolls on the counter. Caving in to the mouthwatering aromas, I ordered a fresh cinnamon roll and brewed coffee (although they offer many popular coffee house options). I also ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, and a sausage patty served on a croissant.
Taking my coffee and caramel cinnamon cinnamon roll to my table. I noted the sea salt grinder on the table and sprinkled some on the hot melted caramel on top of my cinnamon roll for a sea salted caramel taste. This was sublime! I enjoyed my coffee, perfectly brewed, and cinnamon roll thoroughly.
A pleasant young lady brought me my sandwich, still steaming from the grill. The croissant was buttery and flaky, the egg, cheese, and sausage hot and full of flavor.
The menu boasts pancakes, omelets, biscuits and gravy, fresh hash browns, and freshly baked pastries. The staff are friendly and polite. This isn’t what I expect from a “tourist town” but Montana definitely sets the bar high. Well...
Read moreI had a really disappointing experience here. Arrived 15 minutes after they opened for dinner and they told me they were full and would have to wait 45 minutes to be seated. Asked if we could sot at the tables outside, which were all clean and clear, but was told that they were not serving customers outside, but we could order takeout. Ordered takeout, which we were told would take 30 minutes to prepare. As we were leaving, we saw customers being seated by restaurant staff outside... The food was mediocre, not bad necessarily, but the high prices belied the middling quality. Chicken sandwich had a fried chicken breast that was puzzlingly pounded thin, though it was well cooked. The same breast left alone or pounded less would have been a knockout. Trout wasn't fresh and I'll bet dollars to donuts that the pizza was Digiorno's. This restaurant came off as a typical case of a chic-looking tourist trap with blah food, bad service and high prices. Avoid and plan ahead to eat at any number of great options in the...
Read moreDreadful! The food was just inedible it was that bad. I honestly took one bite of a tasteless burrito with tiny specks of meat. It was mostly watery rice. The tortilla chips were stale and salsa was so bad it tasted like it came from a jar but worse. I kid you not! This place reeks of the proverbial tourist trap. We paid over $20 for lunch (with no drinks so it would have been $25 with them) and they try to get you to tip prior to serving food because you pay first, which should have been a big red flag to us. One of the worst places I have ever been to with some of the worst food I've ever eaten. Restaurant was dirty on inside and out. For a Saturday and holiday weekend outside Yellowstone I expected something that would seem like it cared about food and restaurants. This place will go out of business if it keeps it...
