We had really high hopes for this hotel, and were looking forward to staying here on our 15-day road trip. The concept of the cabins is very unique and cool, and we were excited to have our own little cabin.
Unfortunately as soon as we made it inside we realized it would not be as great of an experience as we expected. Cleanliness was 0/5. The ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom, as well as the ventilation fans in the hallway and bathroom, or completely covered in dust and very dirty. The bed sheets had spots of blood on them and were clearly not clean. There were spider webs and dead bugs around the cabin and on the ceiling. The shower was so dirty that we opted to where our sandals while showering.
Even the paper towels were almost empty and had a new roll sitting next to it for us to replace, and the small bottle of dish soap was half empty and the lid was open. We felt more like we were staying at a buddy's house than at a hotel where the room is supposed to be clean and well kept when we check in.
Additionally, there is a feeling of lack of privacy in the room. One set of blinds in the living room do not cover the entire window, and the upper windows are exposed to guests sitting on the top deck. It feels like anyone can be looking into the cabin while we are in here, which made us uncomfortable as we could hear people walking around outside since the cabins are so close to each other.
Laundry is free but 1 of 4 washers and 1 of 4 dryers were not working, so there was a wait to even use the functioning machines.
Check in was extremely slow. The lady at the front desk was very polite, but she was just working way too slow. A line formed of people waiting to check in and instead of giving each one a sheet to fill out while we were waiting, she did one at a time which was inefficient and made it so everyone was hearing the same information three or four times over by the time they...
Read moreMy room was very nice, and the view was spectacular. I especially liked being able to open the windows and listen to the river at night. The hotel office staff were friendly and helpful, and the complementary guest laundry was an unexpected extra that I needed and used.
I had serious issues with your restaurant on this property and would not recommend it to anyone ...
On my first night, I had dinner at your restaurant and ordered the Rib-Eye. It was the worst cut of meat I have EVER been served in a restaurant ... full of rubbery gristle ... every bite. For $55, you could and should do better.
On my first morning, I had breakfast at your restaurant. The Eggs Benedict was pretty good, but the service was uninspired. The servers did not seem interested in what they were doing.
On my second morning, I ordered a basic eggs and bacon breakfast, and after about 20 minutes, I asked the server why my food hadn't come when several tables seated after me had been served. He blamed it on the kitchen ... even if true, not a very good "customer service" response. At about 30 minutes I questioned again, and was told ... and I quote ... "You'll get it when you get it!" At that point, I left and received some not-so-vailed insults from both servers as I exited. These folks are in desperate need of customer service training. Hopely that would fix the issues. Otherwise, they should not be in customer-facing roles.
I did have a good experience getting lunch in the bar one day. The guy behind the bar was quick and friendly, and the food was good.
Luckily, I found a place to eat in town with friendly, upbeat staff who even remembered my name the second time I came in. THAT is the place I...
Read moreWe paid extra to stay in a room with a river view, and the view did not disappoint! We were so excited and happy with our room, until we walked inside an immediately saw a large moth on the wall. It was the first of many - we spent the rest of our stay killing moths and finding moth carcasses in this filthy room. Stay somewhere else - you'll see the river in the park.
Edit: the business owner made this reply to my review:
"Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We apologize that we failed to meet your expectations. We are fully aware of the issues with the moths, however it is that time of year in Montana. Our staff works hard to make sure they get all the bugs.
We wish you the best and safe travels."
As a person who lives in the mosquito and mayfly-infested lowlands of the Mississippi basin, I can tell you that this response is disingenuous. We have no problems keeping these pests out, even during "that time of year".
I suppose that the wide gap between the weather stripping on the door and the door frame, through which we could see both sunlight and moonlight and could probably insert a toe, may have had something to do with the constant intrusion of moths.
This motel could install screen doors, fix the weather stripping on external doors, and ask the cleaning staff to at least vacuum up the moth carcasses, but they don't. They hide behind a fancy name "THE RIDGELINE HOTEL at YELLOWSTONE - AN ASCEND HOTEL!" and deliver a low...
