Gardiner Gifts — Local services in West Yellowstone

Stopped in early on May 14, 2021 to buy some gifts. Found two perfect mugs individualized with names. One was marked $14.99, the other $16.99. Identical mugs, different names. I took both to the register along with a third identical mug marked $14.99 and informed the clerk that some of the mugs were marked $14.99 and some $16.99. The dingbat at the register rang both up at $16.99 each. When I pointed out that the price was clearly marked $14.99, she told me the mug was marked wrong and should have been marked at $16.99. Hello.....if something is marked at an incorrect price, I was always under the assumption that the store would honor that price. Maybe it was too early in the day for a transaction this confusing, but this girl was clearly not getting it. I ended up paying $16.99 each. I should have left them on the counter and walked out. Decided to pick up some Huckleberry taffy for my daughter and some huckleberry ice cream for myself yesterday. I ordered a single scoop in a waffle cone. As I was handed the finished cone I noticed it was a small scoop (approximately the size of a half dollar) placed in the opening is the waffle cone. I could see into the bottom 3/4’s of the waffle cone and it was completely empty!! I asked the lady who had prepared my cone if she was going to finish filling it. She said she couldn’t as that was store policy. What a ludicrous policy. I gave it back to her and asked for a refund which she grudgingly gave and told me it would be posted on my account in 5-10 business days.

So if you want a small single scoop of ice cream in a mostly empty waffle cone, then this is your place!! I decided to head to another local establishment where I got a real waffle cone that was full...

We planned our summer vacation to Yellowstone before that flooding which did not allow travel from the north entrance into the park. We decided to continue with our trip in Gardiner, even though the town did seem pretty vacant after the flooding. We stopped here to support local business and bought some clothing and souvenirs, as we were leaving, I accidentally set my wallet down. A few hours later after I was frantically looking for it, I realized what I had done. I ran back to the store shortly before it was closing because we were due to leave the next day and the young man found it and secured it safely for me. He even tried to look me up on Facebook! Very nice and genuine. Great people in this town. Don’t let the flooding stop you...
