Great stay here. The room was good and the kitchenette was of great use to make some baby food and morning breakfast. Location is EXCELLENT in Gardiner and close to grocery store and the park entrance.
The service was OK though. My main gripe was that the hotel did not get in touch with me re: their unavailability after 10pm for late check-ins. I happened to see that they are unavailable after 10pm last minute on my reservation and immediately tried calling in, but they were gone for the day by then (causing me anxiety for the next couple of hours). They did leave me check-in info in the envelope on the front reception door and I was indeed able to self check-in smoothly that night, but it did cause me unnecessary stress for couple of hours, which I think could've been avoided by better communication from their side.
Firstly, most motels/hotels have 24-hrs front desk service (hence it's not a natural thing one would remember to check w/ hotel from your side) , but the the ones that do take off for the night, ought to communicate to the guests as a courtesy. Agreed that most would indeed leave an envelope with your name for late check-ins, but that little bit of communication really does make a difference in making the guests comfortable and avoid any anxiety/nasty surprises later (and in fact the next hotel we stayed in West Yellowstone did exactly that by reaching out to us re: late check-in, making us comfortable, and I really appreciated it). Hopefully, this feedback helps them improve on that in the future :)
Everything else was good and I would stay here again next time (but this time I will call in from my side just to...
Read moreThis is a great option for a Yellowstone trip, I booked a standard room and it was huge, The beds were comfortable and the one staff member we interacted with was nice. There were chairs and a little table outside every room for guests to use as all the rooms seemed to have a Mountain View.
The other nice thing is that they provided a squeegee and window washing liquid for vehicle windows.
Bear spray was also available to rent.
The reason it gets 4 stars on service is that there is no daily room cleaning or towels replaced at least for our two-night stay which wasn’t an issue for us, but we could get new towels daily by setting them out on the provided chairs outside the room. And all of this was disclosed at check-in
The reason it gets 3 stars for location is because the bold options in Gardiner aren’t the best and it is a bit of a trek to get back to from the bottom of Yellowstone but an ok location if you want to tackle just the northern portion of...
Read moreNice. Right near the northern entrance to Yellowstone. They have a cozy waiting area around the reception desk with coffee and beverages available all day. The desk clerk let us check in early. The parking lot was empty - but he said he was expecting a couple of bus loads and would be full. They did show up. The rooms are clean and spacious. Non-smoking did not stink, but the folks next door smoked outside their door - next to our room. So not a good idea to open the windows. Each room had a couple of chairs outside to sit back and enjoy the view. There were restaurants and a grocery store and some shops within walking distance. The price was good. We got the reservation online in advance. If you want to see Yellowstone and don't want to pay the park's premium hotel fees, this is a good place for your base of operations. Then just drive into the park each morning and come back at the...
