Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the park's unmistakable identity as a cherished part of the city, thanks to a well-crafted map at the entrance. Finding a suitable parking spot posed no challenge on that particular day, as the medium-sized parking lot had ample availability. However, I couldn't help but wonder if there might be another parking area tucked away somewhere, as I observed a steady stream of individuals arriving to partake in the park's offerings. My journey through Swaim Park commenced along a paved walkway that meandered through its verdant expanse. The trail offered two distinct branches, one of which led me alongside two picturesque ponds that graced the landscape. As I strolled along, the serene waters mirrored the canopy of trees above, creating a harmonious fusion of natural beauty. My gaze was drawn to a charming gazebo perched by the water's edge, promising a sublime vantage point to soak in the idyllic scenery. Regrettably, it was already occupied, a testament to the park's popularity. During my visit, I noticed that the park was relatively tranquil, with only a scattering of fellow park-goers sharing in the peaceful ambiance. However, a lively group of teenagers, or perhaps college students, were engaged in spirited basketball games on the park's court, injecting youthful energy into the serene surroundings. As the day gradually transitioned into evening, more visitors began to arrive. The atmosphere took on a different character, as the fading light and the park's gentle illumination contributed to a sense of enchantment. Overall, I would recommend Swaim Park to all park enthusiasts seeking a serene and picturesque escape. While there may be larger and more grandiose parks in the vicinity, Swaim Park possesses a unique charm, perfect for those seeking a tranquil stroll, leisurely reflection, or a quiet interlude...
Read moreOne of my favorite local parks I have enjoyed over the years.. 18 years + counting to be exact. I started taking my daughter here when she was a baby- my baby is now 18! Class of 2025!! My son and I now frequent the park and he is about to be 10 y.o.. Bittersweet memories 💚 Back to the topic --- Swaim Park has a large area that has 3 separate playsets, each designed to fit age groups (of course you could play on any of these, I'm guilty). They have a swing set (a few for smaller ones) a see-saw (a favorite), a sand pit with digging 'machines' for construction (or destruction). The park contains a baseball field, an open field, volleyball court, tennis + b-ball courts too. There is plenty of parking and has shelter areas with lots of picnic tables. Restrooms available, usually well cleaned as far as park restrooms go. It has 2 ponds with walking trails. You can go fishing here as well. The place is beautiful to me. I'll try to remember and add photos at...
Read moreDefinitely one of the better playground sets in the area. Parents looking for the playground: use the parking lot off Zig Zag road (Google brought me to the other parking lot, which is still a very short walk to the playground, but it's not visible from that parking lot.) The tire swing was by far my kids' (3yo/6yo) favorite. A small swing set, several slides, and 3 separate playsets.
The park also has tennis, basketball, and sand volleyball courts. A short paved trail for walks (or bicycles), and a nice little pond with plenty of benches to sit and enjoy.
This place has quickly become a new favorite place to...
