I want to share my experience with this gym as a âźď¸WARNING âźď¸ to those considering joining.
At first, everything seemed very promising: an affordable membership and clean facilities. However, my experience was the complete opposite. From the first month, I decided to cancel my membership due to the inconsistency of the classes, as the instructors would cancel the sessions without prior notice. Noticing that this kept happening, I went to the gym to cancel, spoke with the manager, and signed a document detailing the reasons for my cancellation.
What seemed like a simple process turned into a nightmare. Despite canceling in the first month, they continued charging my card for 4 months without my consent. When I noticed the charges, I called the bank to file a complaint, but the gym kept charging me for another 2 months. I called the bank again, and they recommended I go in person to resolve it. The manager told me they had no record of my cancellation, claiming that the person responsible for those documents no longer worked there.
He assured me that he would handle it personally and sent me a cancellation email. I thought my nightmare was over, but two months later, they kept calling me demanding payment for two more months, threatening to send me to collections. I went in person again, and this time the manager had an arrogant attitude, claiming he wasnât working on those days.
As of today, almost a year later, Iâm still fighting to prevent them from charging me or sending me to collections for something I donât think is fair. Today, they sent another email saying they will send me to collections.
This business model is very disorganized and does not respect the customer. If you decide to try this gym, I recommend paying close attention to the details in the contract and any additional charges they donât mention upfront. Even though I canceled in the first month, Iâm still fighting with them. If anyone has any advice on how to proceed with this situation, I would greatly appreciate it. This is just a warning for those...
Read moreI am writing this review because I have shifted from being very satisfied with Crunch gym to being more than happy to be done with Crunch gym specifically. After canceling my personal training sessions and not being told of any further stipulations to the cancellation I was charged $200 again the following month. I spoke with someone at the front desk.  Instantly, she was on the defensive and claimed that there needed to be a 30 day period for cancellation (although no one explained this to me, not during sign up or during my cancellation) and kept reiterating how I should have cancelled "on time," as if I was supposed to know what the time frame was.  What she said next was extremely inappropriate.  She proceeded to justify my charge for personal training by saying that itâs okay that I will have more sessions now because she "knows I want to get pregnant soon" and insinuated that to do that I would need to lose weight because her Aunt had to lose 50 lbs in order to get pregnant and that I "wouldn't want to deal with IVF." Not only was this comment offensive and invasive, but absolutely absurd.  No professional under any circumstance should use a personal tidbit or opinion to comment on someone's weight as a means to RATIONALIZE A CHARGE TO A CREDIT CARD.  Disgusting. Customer service is clearly not something Crunch values at the moment as I emailed the managers of the Morris Plains establishment and have heard NOTHING back. It has been a week since I sent the email explaining the situation and my encounter with the front desk staff. To top it off the email address that I was given for a âmanagerâ from the front desk staff is one that is apparently available for all staff to see, not just the managers. So now this situation is no longer a private matter to be handled between myself and the management. I am upset and disappointed with the lack of professionalism and customer service at the Morris Plains Crunch gym and I canât get in to cancel my membership...
Read moreI originally changed to Crunch from LA Fitness due to the proximity of the gym and I can safely say that LA Fitness locations where you pay less you get more than you will find at the Crunch Morristown. I will be looking into canceling and filing for a refund over "1.12.4 New Facility" in the gym agreement due to this gym failing to meet its advertised standards. FIND ANOTHER GYM or at least an actual Crunch. Over the past 3 months this âSelectâ Location has received little to no love from the owner (whoever that is) and is on its 2nd manager based on the email exchanges Iâve been having. If anyone has been in contact with the manager or has seen their email campaign youâve seen that they promise âa LOT of changesâ, well for a whopping $40.00 (Base) or $50.00 (Peak) you too can continually wonder how long it will take them to fix the leg press (black tape doesn't count, but nice try).
Youâll find the following at this location: The Gym is only busy after work hours (5pm - 7pm) Worn Down/Broken Equipment (a lot more than the photos I have below) If you look at photos of the previous gym the equipment that is shown is mostly all in this facility Little to no âCrunchâ signs Paint color scheme is all over the place Menâs lockers numbered wrong Menâs Sauna has exposed wires Brown Rug throughout the facility New Plates & Dumbbells Front desk is nice
We go to the gym to improve and better ourselves, so it is disheartening and downright disappointing when the gym itself isn't working to be...
