The Langdon is more than a thrift store. People donate high end items and get to choose what charity gets the money when their items sell. and it's housed in a rustic log building. The staff is all voluntary, from the founder to the bookkeeping. They're friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and the items for sale are really unique and beautiful, useful, and gifty.

Great consignment shop with the most beautiful high end jewelry and decor. They support over 200 charities and are completely run by volunteers. Since they’re only open the first 7 days of the month there are always new things showing up. They’re always accepting donations of high end home decor in great condition. Be sure to check them out!

The Langdon may be the most unique and satisfying shopping experience you will find ANYWHERE! Not hyperbole!

It is not only one of the most visually appealing stores but also holds and features carefully curated, high-end treasures that have been donated by the finest families from the Lake Minnetonka region. Each new opening on the first of every month provides a fresh seasonal look from the previous month. I can't wait to see how the all-volunteer staff have rearranged the inventory and woven in all the new items to present a sometimes fun, and always beautiful tableau to celebrate the season. Prepare to be amazed at the extraordinary variety and value you will find in each item ranging from fine china and crystal to designer furniture and clothing and vintage home goods both distinctive and quirky . Don’t miss the estate jewelry in the check-out cases. Enjoy even greater value on other women’s clothing in the loft, traveling up the spiral staircase that rises above the authentic log beams of the historic log cabin.

But above all, the two greatest things I love about shopping at The Langdon are the super friendly, helpful and always happy and fun staff who welcome me as an old friend each time I come through the door. Add to this the fact that we are assured that each dollar spent is 100% going to a deserving Twin Cities charity that has been specially designated by the item’s donor. There are a lot of charitable consignment shops but none that are run with little to no overhead like The Langdon. This guarantees that your purchase dollars (and your donations if you have treasures to share) will have so much more impact with each visit. This makes me so much more happy to come home each time with fabulous new additions to my wardrobe or home decor! Also a great place to find the perfect gift!

Long review - but worth it for the most worthy shopping experience! So... GO! They are open the first seven days of each month and I make a point to never miss...

The Langdon seems to believe that they are a very special place, and each time I arrive I'm quickly approached and invited to hear their "story." I've bought merchandise there more than once.

Now perhaps the Langdon does a great deal of good, I certainly hope so, because this is their written claim. Yesterday I stopped in, and the store was empty, as far as I could tell, except for an elderly clerk with short brown hair who asked if this was my first visit, and had I heard their story? "I've been here before, and yes, I know your story," I said. I began to look around and possibly spent 15-20 minutes browsing, before I spotted some soup mugs that I liked. I'd been looking for something similar. They weren't marked, so I asked the clerk and was told that mugs are 2 for $5.00, so I chose 4 and brought them up to the rather cluttered check- out area. The clerk began to pull out paper to wrap them, and I pulled out my credit card, set it down and began to browse some near-by jewelry. When I turned back, the elderly clerk loftily said, "I can't possibly put just $10.00 on your card." "Then I can't buy from you," I said, and left, after waiting a second to see if she would suggest another form of payment, or explain the policy preventing her from accepting my card. If a minimum for credit cards is posted in the store, I didn't see it, and never have. Maybe she was hoping I would quickly gather up more merchandise to buy, and so become a worthy, card carrying customer.

I support good charities, and often donate merchandise to second-hand stores like the Langdon, and also buy from them. This clerk showed me clearly that they don't need me. But I'm a lucky woman. There are so many worthy, kind and respectful establishments where I can shop, that I never need go to this peripheral place again. I am free to take my business...
